# Hello! I''m in my 30s and have returned as the protagonist of my life through language study in Canada.

Hello, I''m Lee O-rim, who discovered my true ''self'' through a gap year and returned as the protagonist of my life.
After pausing my working life for a while and facing a new start in my thirties, I decided I wanted to live a life without regrets. So I resolved to build special experiences to cherish for a lifetime. Because I had a strong interest in English, I chose a language program in Canada, and that time became a precious opportunity to face myself and reflect deeply.. The month I spent in Canada was so precious and enjoyable that it actually felt short. I wanted to stay longer no matter what, haha.
Actually, before leaving for Canada I felt more excitement than worry. It''s still hard to believe that I experienced a new world by studying abroad for a month in Canada, which has a completely different culture from Korea on the other side of the globe.
I can only feel grateful to the gap year that allowed me to step away from my daily life even for a moment, make new experiences and connections, and have time just for myself :)
*After stopping work and facing a new challenge, Lee O-rim needed time to rest and recover and an environment that would boost her confidence. For Lee O-rim''s positive change, we recommended a customized gap year plan through consulting :) If you want to know where and how to start making changes and receive a tailored plan, we highly recommend 1:1 consulting with a gap year specialist.

# Life in Canada lifted me up from my lethargy!

After stopping work and facing a new job, I was filled with worries and concerns every day. I was exhausted from the things I had to do in Korea, and the pressure to do well kept me from moving forward. However,Life in Canada lifted me back up like a restorative tonic when I was feeling lethargic.
During my language study in Canada, I improved my English, became close with new people, and spent each day without regret by making new plans every day. At first, spending time solely for myself felt awkward. But gradually,I learned how to be more at ease mentally, and seeing my worries disappear one by one made me truly happy :)
# If you give your best for yourself, good things will follow!

Making new connections in an unfamiliar environment is not easy. Worried ''What if people think I''m weird?'', I think I always tried to act the way others expected. But in Canada, I decided to live a life solely for myself, and I worked to keep that promise.
At first I worried, ''What if no one reaches out to me?'', but that worry wasn''t necessary! As I lived earnestly for myself, many people naturally approached me first and came to like me!
Even during class, I didn''t worry about others'' opinions and always participated in English class with enjoyment. My classmates praised me for actively participating in class, and over time I made a variety of good friends. Talking with so many people, I was really surprised to see my English improve noticeably :)
# I am now enjoying a happy time as the protagonist of my life.
Compared to my former self, I feel like I''ve become a completely different person. I used to be sensitive to others'' views and lethargic, but,After studying English in Canada, I think I learned how to love myself and have peace of mind.
Looking back on life in Korea, I think I always lived conscious of others'' opinions. Trying to look good to others, I felt like I was gradually losing my true ''self.''But now I know: the most precious person in this world is myself.

During my gap year, I kept as much as possible the promises I made to myself.Rather than worrying about what others think, I planned my life the way I wanted, lived as the kind of person I truly wanted to be, and treated my mind and body with care! Keeping this promise every day wasn''t easy, but thanks to my courage and efforts, I was able to enjoy a ''happy time'' as the main character of my life :)
# What was a typical day like during language study in Vancouver, Canada?
I lived a regular routine in Canada. On weekdays, I would eat a hearty breakfast before taking the subway to school for English classes. I think I greeted each day with anticipation about what new English I would learn in class.
At lunchtime I always had delicious food with friends and enjoyed our time together. After class, I would travel to various parts of Canada with friends, or sometimes enjoy leisurely time alone.

Now that I''m back from Canada, when I think again about what to bring, I would pack a bit differently. Since Canada''s weather can be different than expected, it''s wiser to buy what''s needed according to local weather rather than bringing all your clothes. Also, I recommend bringing a high-capacity power bank or several of them to capture every moment in Canada :)
The checklist provided by Korea Gap Year was very helpful for thorough preparation, butI want to emphasize that putting yourself into a new environment and courageously confronting it is also a very valuable experience!
