Learning English with friends from around the world in Vancouver, Canada — a beautiful city I’d love to live in someday.

Review by Mun O-seon, a gap year traveler (gapper).

    # Hello. I''m a university student who went to Vancouver, Canada for language study.

Hello. I completed four years of university and, now postponing graduation, I embarked on a gap year.

After barely graduating from a major that didn''t suit me and feeling uncertain about how to shape my future,

I discovered the concept of a gap year.

I thought that through a gap year project I could find what I''m good at and what I want to do,

so I applied for the Vancouver, Canada language-study project. 😀

    * For Mun O-seon, who aimed to have a healing time through the gap year, customized one-on-one personal missions were provided, such as activities where participants could freely do what they wanted and truly enjoy their gap year.

    >> Participation fee 100 won! Go to the gap year mission

    # I participated in the gap year with healing as my priority.

Before leaving for language study in Vancouver, I set the goal of ''a time to heal.''

Before going on my gap year, life in Korea felt harsh, but after coming to Canada,

I feel like my worldview has broadened and I’ve gained a lot more peace of mind 😀

Every day in Canada was pure happiness, so I found it very healing.

I lacked knowledge about Canada, but the gap year program sent materials related to the project,

so I was able to prepare thoroughly and not miss anything.

    # I was moved by how they liked me just as I am.

Canada had many differences from Korean society.

People don''t stay out partying late, and they don''t ask anything beyond your name.

I really liked that people treated you as an individual, without judging by academic background or credentials.

Above all, thanks to my classmates who liked me and took good care of me,

I felt so disappointed that I wished we had more time on the last graduation day.

I was genuinely moved by how they simply liked me for who I am.

    # My confidence has improved!

I often hesitated before taking action,

and during my gap year I told myself, ''just close your eyes and be brave.''

At some point I found myself taking on challenges without hesitation, and I felt proud of myself.

    Do whatever you want!

I want to tell you to take your own time and freely summon the courage to try the things you haven''t been able to do!

    # It felt like I was dreaming a very long, happy dream for a month.

I spent a month in Vancouver, Canada, and every day was joyful.

I will cherish these happy memories and keep recalling them as I boldly shape my future. 👍🏻

    # What does a day of language study in Vancouver, Canada look like?

I woke up at 6 AM, got ready, ate breakfast, and went to school on time.

After the first and second classes, we chatted and had lunch with friends, then attended the last class.

We also joined after-school activities and went to cafes, Central Park, and English Bay beach with friends.

Because I made an effort to hang out with international friends rather than Korean students, my English improved a lot. 😃

    # My Vancouver, Canada language-study gap year!

    Experience★★★★★

If you''ve never stayed abroad for a long period, I especially recommend it!

    Learning★★★★★

Your English improves when you interact with international friends!

    Leisure★★★★

With the school schedule you might not have much free time, but if you have good stamina you can fully enjoy leisure activities. 😃
