Top value! Learn English safely in Malta in the Mediterranean.

    Park So-yeon, gapper (25 / job seeker) / 8-month language-study gap year in Malta

    # Hello. I''m a graduate preparing for employment who wanted to go abroad.

Hello. I''m 25-year-old Park So-yeon. I have graduated from university and am preparing for employment.

First of all, I strongly wanted to go abroad anywhere, and if possible, I wanted to go to an English-speaking country. While searching for language programs, I discovered the concept of a gap year,''A time to find myself''I was strongly attracted to that phrase, so I chose the gap year project. Of course I could have just chosen a language school, butAt that time I had many concerns about my career path, so I think I was more drawn to the gap year!

    # I experienced new things through the gap year!

I experienced and felt many things through the gap year!

That I was able to meet friends from other countries and talk with them,

That even in the same situations, I could think about how friends from other countries'' opinions differed from mine,

That there were many things I newly felt and learned through diverse experiences,

That through these, I realized how small the world I had been living in was,

And that my view of the world has broadened.

And my perspective on myself has also changed a lot.It was time to learn more about myself by thinking about what I like and dislike, and when I''m happy or sad.Previously, I had more worries and anxieties than expectations about my life, but now it seems I have more anticipation!

    # Now I''m looking forward to my future!

Before joining, I was timid and tended to calculate before acting rather than take on challenges. I also thought I knew myself well and stopped trying to look deeper. But when I went on the gap year, I had the goal of getting to know myself better,Now I feel like I truly know what I like and how I should really live.

I realized that the thing constricting me was not the world or others'' views, but myself. The world I know is still really small, but I feel that it''s wider than before. If before I only worried about my future, now I''m truly excited for it!I used to be carried along by life, but now I feel like I can take the reins of my life!

    # A day in Malta!

I had classes from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, and the rest of the time had no set schedule, so I used it as free time.So I sometimes went on trips with friends and often went swimming in the summer. When we got close, my language school friends and I would gather at a flat in the evenings and have parties together!

I drank coffee at a café while watching the sunset, and I ate meals while looking at the stars. I also remember those romantic days.I was really happy!

    # A message to participants in a Malta language program!

I recommend exploring as much as possible. It may seem like there''s plenty of time, but once you''re there, time passes so quickly you don''t even notice how it goes by.Enjoy as much as possible and make lots of international friends — I think that will greatly help improve your English skills.

I, too, met many friends from various countries in Malta, and now I''m so happy that wherever I travel I have friends to meet!

    # My personal tips for preparing for a Malta language program!

    - Language

: Everyone uses English. The classes alone are enough to keep up, and I think you''ll improve faster by learning while meeting international friends.

    - Accommodation & meals

: The school provides flats, with rooms separated by gender. For meals, I sometimes cooked myself or bought food.

    - Things to bring

: Having a microwave-safe container is convenient. Prices are a bit high locally, so I recommend buying one cheaply in Korea before you come.

My Malta language-study gap year was:

    Experience★★★★★

: It was great because I could meet friends from other countries and experience various cultures.

    Learning★★★★★

: I could learn about other friends'' perspectives, and it was no problem learning English.

    Environment ★★★★

: The environment was not very different from Korea.

    Safety ★★★★★

: It''s safe to walk around at night.

    Leisure ★★★★★

: You can swim in the sea anywhere and there are many activity programs.
