    # Hello! I am a woman in my 30s who started my second gap year! :)

Hello! After finishing my first gap year, I immediately started my second gap-year volunteering in Hanoi — I''m a woman in my 30s. ^^

Before officially starting my gap year, I had a one-on-one gap year consultation, and I followed the project recommended during that consultation. So I first did a gap-year project to improve my English, and this time I participated in a volunteer project in Vietnam alongside international friends!

*For Sangmi Lee, who wanted experiences of giving and receiving love and to better understand herself,During the gap year, she was provided with daily personalized 1:1 missions focused on activities to feel more love and opportunities to learn more about herself, and she was also given a ''gap year note'' to reflect and make plans.

    # Through this gap year in Vietnam, I wanted to feel ''affection''!

Before taking a gap year, I was very awkward and struggled with giving and receiving affection between people. So during the volunteer work in Vietnam, I wanted to experience being shown affection and, even more, to have many experiences of giving affection myself.

At the local Vietnamese organization where I volunteered, the children loved people so much that they warmly approached even people they met for the first time. At first it felt unfamiliar, but because my volunteer period was longer than others'', everyone kept looking for me haha.

And finally I found myself becoming very accustomed to that life. That someone would remember me and...like me made me so happy.

And during the gap year I met a wide variety of people. Since everyone had come to volunteer, they were patient and considerate even if someone wasn''t good at English. I realized once again that English is just a means of communication and doesn''t have to be fluent! hehe

    # I was able to gain many memorable and good memories in Hanoi!

After finishing the volunteer work in Vietnam, it felt like I had another home besides Korea. When I go to Vietnam, there are people who remember me! :) I want to visit someday and meet them again. And through having various experiences and meeting people, I was able to gather many memorable moments!!

    # For those who want to take a gap year!

I''d tell you to just go for it rather than overthink it.During the gap year, at first you might think you''re the one helping others, but you actually receive much more than you give. When else in life will you have a gap year and receive such overflowing affection? I think opportunities like this are rare!

    # Tips for my own Vietnam overseas volunteer gap-year project!

    - Language

: By talking with volunteers from other countries, my everyday conversation skills improved a bit! But language wasn''t that important at the place where I volunteered!

    - Accommodation & meals

: We stayed together in the volunteer accommodation! All three meals were provided! And as a tip, it might be good to bring seasonings from Korea. Also, many Koreans live in Hanoi so there are lots of Korean restaurants, so you don''t need to worry too much. haha

    - What to bring

: The weather in Southeast Asia is hot, but since the air conditioning is always on during volunteer work, a light jacket is essential! Also, if you have to go to a hospital abroad it can be expensive, so it''s best to get travel insurance before you go!!

    My gap year was!

If I were to rate this Vietnam Hanoi volunteer gap year project with stars, I would give it a full 5 out of 5! First, being affiliated with an organization gave me a sense of safety, and it was an unforgettable experience where I could meet friends from many countries that I wouldn''t normally have the chance to meet!
