#Regained self-esteem and confidence and found a career path #Challenged myself in an unfamiliar environment and experienced traveling around Europe #A meaningful time realizing what I enjoy doing

My gap year in London became an opportunity for me to find out what I want to do in the future. Also, by facing and experiencing a new environment on my own, I was able to raise my self-esteem and confidence, I really think it was a meaningful time! Thank you!

# Hello! I''m Lee Ji-hyun, who went to London for language study during my gap year!

Hello! I''m Lee Ji-hyun, a 24-year-old female university student living in Seoul.
I originally attended an engineering college, but since high school I had wanted to enter pharmacy school. So after finishing my freshman year, I prepared for TOEIC and during the summer vacation of my second year I attended a PEET preparatory academy to enter pharmacy school. However, I lacked confidence for the exam life. So in the end I gave up preparing for PEET and returned to engineering.
In this process, when the long-held dream I had disappeared, I lost all motivation. That''s when I discovered the gap year, and to have time for myself I decided to take a year off for a gap year project that included volunteering abroad and a language course in London.
*For Ji-hyun, who wanted time to contemplate her career path and think about and grow into her future self,A tailored 1:1 personal mission to think about career paths and to consider and set the direction of her future life was provided daily, and a gap year note to reflect on herself and make plans was also provided.
# Preparations before departing for London!

I started researching the country of the UK one week before attending the language study in London, while packing the items I would take.I prepared by looking up what the weather is like, what the culture is like and what sights there are, and also by checking the location of the language school I would attend in London and what restaurants were nearby.
# During this gap year I wanted to raise my lowered self-esteem and confidence!

I was very disappointed in myself for having failed to succeed in my PEET exam challenge. As a result, I didn''t know what I wanted to do in the future and my sense of purpose disappeared.
So during this gap year I wanted to give myself, who had been running straight ahead, a rest, and by taking on new challenges I wanted to raise my lowered confidence and self-esteem.
# While staying in London, I found out what I want to do!

During the London language study period, I think I came to know what I want to do.I also thought about what activities make me happy and could feel that I''ve changed from the previous me who lived without much thought.
I was able to adapt to a new and unfamiliar environment and, traveling alone in Europe for the first time, gained a lot of confidence.Above all, just the fact that my self-esteem and confidence became higher than before made the gap year project in London really meaningful to me.

And what I liked most was that I was able to have different experiences during the London language study period.I was also able to learn how to adapt quickly to unfamiliar environments.
Also, during my language study period, I made friends with people who had different ways of thinking and was exposed to different cultures, and I felt that my perspective broadened.Life in London, unlike in Korea, had more free time, so I had a lot of time to reflect on myself; as time went by, I was able to sort out my tangled worries and thoughts.
# A day in the London language study project!

I usually went to the academy early in the morning by 7:45. I attended classes until 12, had lunch, and then took extra classes from 1 o''clock. I felt that my writing was the weakest, so I took a writing class.

When classes finished at 2 PM, I would come home to relax and chat with friends in the kitchen. On sunny days I wandered around London, checking out sights. For dinner I usually bought ingredients from the supermarket near the dorm and cooked myself. While eating dinner I talked a lot with foreign friends and spent my free time sharing each other''s food and eating together! :)
# The people I met during my gap year!

Friends I met at the local language school soon became my dormmates, and we always hung out together. I got especially close with my roommate Zanen from Turkey, Erika from Japan, Gi from Brazil, and Ismael from Morocco! :)
