# Hello! I''m 27-year-old Yeom Ji-seon, who went on a Malta language course through a gap year after leaving my job!

Hello, I''m Yeom Ji-seon, a 27-year-old woman who participated in the Malta language study gap year project after resigning.
I happened to come across a book written by the head of Gap Year and learned about Korea Gap Year. Since then, whenever I hit a low point in life, I would search gap year projects on the Korea Gap Year website and comfort myself by thinking, ''Someday I''ll go too!''Then I felt that ''now'' was the time, and I joined the Malta language study project without hesitation.
*For Yeom Ji-seon, who wanted time to relax in daily life and to think about and grow in terms of her future self,a tailored one-on-one personal mission focused on experiences to enjoy leisure and time to contemplate and set the direction of her future life was provided daily, and a Gap Year Note for reflecting on herself and making plans was also provided.
# I wanted to regain a sense of ease through my time in Malta!

I had been keeping the Malta language study gap year project in mind for a long time.I wanted to find relaxation on the small Mediterranean island of Malta.
So my goal during the Malta language course was to give myself rest and opportunities, and to look forward to a future changed by that time!
So I applied for the Malta language course, prepared necessary documents like my plane ticket before departure, and on the day of departure I packed and headed to the airport.
# Through this Malta language gap year, I was definitely able to gain motivation to study English!

I was used to being taken care of as the youngest at home, but through my time in Malta I was able to prove to myself that I can manage on my own.Through meeting various people and sharing their cultures and thoughts, I also reflected on myself.
And above all, I felt the importance of ''language.''In fact, although I thought it would be good to know a foreign language, I hadn''t had strong motivation to study until now; this language study project definitely motivated me.
# Also, by challenging myself with new things and traveling alone, I gained the confidence of ''I can do well on my own too!''

As I lived alone in a new place called Malta and traveled, I came to think, ''I can do well on my own.'' This thought gave me self-belief and confidence.
Because I had often made choices to look good and be recognized by others rather than pursue what I truly wanted due to concern about others'' perceptions, I became freer from others'' gaze.

AlsoHaving been accustomed to rote-style education in Korea, I was able to think about many things while taking classes in Malta. Seeing many students from other countries freely share their thoughts in response to teachers'' questions and confidently speak up when they don''t understand or don''t know something,I wondered whether I had been confining myself with concern for others'' opinions. And I was able to practice expressing my thoughts and making choices for myself, one by one.
# A day in the local routine!

On weekdays I attended classes at the local school from 9:00 to 12:30, and spent the rest of the time meeting up with friends I met at school. After lunch it was my usual routine to go to the sea.
I sometimes invited foreign friends and cooked Korean food for them. Then another friend would invite me next time, and we''d spend time getting closer by sharing food and culture.
# For those considering participating in the Gap Year Malta language-study project!

Malta seems like the perfect place to enjoy the Mediterranean Sea. For people who enjoy swimming, Malta will be an excellent holiday destination!
Also, one thought I had toward the end of my gap year was, ''If I return to Malta, I should study at least a little Spanish before coming.''If you''re ambitious, I think the Malta language program can be an opportunity to make friends from many different countries and to learn and practice not only English but other languages as well.

# My Malta travel recommendations & tips

I recommend Paradise Bay, a spot that isn''t as well-known as the famous tourist spot Golden Bay.Golden Bay is well-known and therefore crowded, whereas Paradise Bay has fewer people and cleaner water. The restaurant in Paradise Bay was the best among the places I visited in Malta! On weekdays, after morning classes, you can visit beaches like Paradise Bay.

I also recommend using weekends to go to Gozo and Comino.
The Sunday Market held in Marsaxlokk every Sunday is great for buying souvenirs cheaply. I recommend visiting around 10–11 AM, and after visiting I suggest going to St. Peter''s Pool.
# My gap year preparation tips!

- Language
Before participating in the Malta language program, studying even a little beforehand will help improve your skills on-site. Additionally, since people from many nationalities come to study here, if you''re interested in conversational Spanish, Italian, German, etc., you''ll have opportunities to learn by socializing with friends.
- Accommodation
The accommodation was comfortable and fine!
- Meals
There was an Asian market near the accommodation, which was convenient.
- Packing list
Prepare mainly the items you consider important. Regarding food, if you only need specific items (like buldak sauce), bring them, and you can buy the rest at Asian markets!
