#Learned how to truly love the children #Experience providing direct assistance to the children #A sense of fulfillment and happiness from bonding with the children
What I felt while volunteering was that children are beautiful and have pure hearts no matter what country they''re from, As time went on, I felt proud seeing the children grow closer to me and increasingly rely on me with trust. Even now that I''m back in Korea, when I think of the children I smile warmly at the many memories, haha.

# Hello! I''m Jin Chaerin, a 21-year-old female college student.

Hello! I''m Jin Chaerin, a 21-year-old female college student.
The reason I decided to participate in this Cambodia overseas volunteer project was that I like children and thought it would be better to help them directly by being by their side rather than indirectly through sponsorship; I was also curious about what children in another country are like, so I applied.
And when I heard that the place I would be volunteering at was an orphanage, I felt my small contribution would be even more helpful, and since there would be many people helping, I wanted to convey the hopeful message to the children that they are not alone.
*For Jin Chaerin, who wanted time to think about volunteering for children and to grow with regard to her future,Activities that allow for meaningful time, and tailored one-on-one personal missions each day to get to know oneself better were provided, and a Gap Year Note was also provided to reflect on oneself and make plans.
# Through this Cambodia overseas volunteer activity, I wanted to give the children the help and love they truly need!

While preparing for this Cambodia volunteer activity, I primarily wanted to provide the essential help to the children, and my goal was to love them so much that I would miss them after returning to Korea.
The daily routine of the Cambodia volunteer trip was visiting the orphanage within the local convent from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM to volunteer, then returning to the accommodation to rest, and going back to the orphanage from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM to continue volunteering.
# As time passed, I felt proud seeing the children grow closer to me.

What I felt while volunteering was that children are beautiful and have pure hearts no matter which country they''re from,As time went on, I felt proud seeing the children grow closer to me and increasingly rely on me with trust.
Even now that I''m back in Korea, there are times when I suddenly think of the children I met during the overseas volunteer work; I still can''t help but smile, and a pleasant laugh comes from many memories! haha
One tip for those considering the Cambodia gap-year project is to have the willingness to approach the children first.According to the local nun in Cambodia, each child has painful memories and wounds, so it would be good to show that you approach them first and give them lots of love.
# My personal Cambodia overseas volunteer preparation & tips!

- Language
: It would be good to study various conversational phrases and everyday words. But when I actually went, the foreign friends volunteering with me didn''t use difficult words in conversation, so even studying simple words briefly should be enough for communication.
- Accommodation & meals
: Make sure to bring a multi-plug for the accommodation! Also, local food may not suit you, so bring some Korean instant cup noodles, haha.
- What to bring
: I purchased travel insurance, and bringing detergent was handy when I couldn''t leave laundry to be washed!

My gap year is!
Experience★★★★★
: It was a great volunteer experience staying with the children for two weeks and being able to care for them up close!
Learning★★★★★
: I learned how to truly love the children!
