#Overcame the fear of taking on challenges #A vow not to conform my life to others' standards #A peacefulness that draws strength from a sense of ease

During my month living in Jeonju, I was able to feel a tranquility and leisure I couldn''t experience in Seoul. And through that time I realized I could overcome the fear of future challenges, and that I shouldn''t set the standards of my life according to others I was also able to vow not to live that way! It was truly a month that taught me so much!

# Hello! I''m Jeong Hye-won, who spent a month living in Jeonju.

Hello, I''m Jeong Hye-won, twenty years old, who did the Jeonju one-month gap year for the first time.
Originally I planned to choose a gap year program abroad, but rather than heading overseas blindly,I chose the Jeonju one-month project with the goal of experiencing—through a domestic month-long stay—how to make plans and what kinds of challenges I would take on in the future.
*For Jeong Hye-won, who wanted time to think about new challenges and her future self and to grow, she was provided daily with tailored one-on-one personal missions: activities that offered unique challenges, opportunities to contemplate the direction of her life, and time for relaxation. She was also given a gap year notebook for self-reflection and planning.
# During my month in Jeonju I was able to feel the tranquility and leisure I couldn''t feel in Seoul.

Before going to Jeonju, I prepared by referring a lot to reviews and videos from previous month-long participants that Gap Year sent daily, and to the orientation materials provided by Gap Year.
Of course, when I first left, it was my first time traveling alone, and making plans and achieving goals by myself felt awkward, but still,in Jeonju it was a time perfectly suited to loosening the tight string of my life with tranquility and leisure I couldn''t feel in Seoul, so as the month went by I increasingly felt myself becoming one with Jeonju.
# Through this time I was able to promise that I can overcome fear of future challenges and that I won''t live by setting my life''s standards according to others.

My goal for this month in Jeonju was to gain a perspective to look back on myself and to live a reflective life, so I applied for the gap year; ultimately, I wanted to find ways to make myself happy.
I think I was fairly happy in Jeonju, and looking back I believe I spent truly peaceful days. After washing away many of the hardships that came when I first stepped into a competitive society, I am still trying to live each day with the mindset of starting over, having rested in the leisurely atmosphere of Jeonju.

Also, what I clearly felt during the month in Jeonju was that I had fastened the first button correctly, that I can overcome fear when facing future challenges, and that I won''t live by matching my life''s standards to others.
And I realized that everything is a matter of mindset. I think I needed an excuse to gather strength and live earnestly again. Having rested in Jeonju gave me an opportunity to change my mind and say, ''Let''s give it one more try,'' haha.
# A word to those considering a month in Jeonju!

Whatever you do, don''t be afraid and give it a try. This was my first time traveling alone, and I used to be someone who cared a lot about how others saw me—thinking, ''If I''m doing this alone, won''t people stare a lot?'' or feeling embarrassed—so I passed up many things and later regretted it deeply.
If there''s something you want to try, I think you should definitely try it. I can come to Jeonju anytime, but for those going abroad for a gap year, the experience of living in the country for a month is rare, so I hope you don''t miss this chance!! :)
# My personal domestic travel recommendation!

Personally, the trip to Yeosu to see the sea stands out the most. Since it was an impromptu trip, there was no fixed schedule. I went to the sea whenever I wanted, ate whenever I wanted, wrote in my diary, and because I had virtually no plans, I really wandered around Yeosu as I pleased.
Even though all I did was see the sea, I still can''t forget the exhilaration that the sea''s scent gave me.Mosa-geum Beach, next to the black sand beach famous for Yeosu''s night sea, is quiet and not very crowded. I sat there alone, enjoying the cool sound of the waves and the breeze — it made me happy. If you travel to Yeosu, I recommend Mosa-geum Beach.
# Jeonju One-Month Stay (Gap Year) TIP!

- Accommodation
: The accommodation provided by the gap year program was a hanok (traditional Korean house), so it was relaxed, tranquil, and pleasant!
- Meals
: Search nearby restaurants in advance and check their break times and closed days. Around Jeonju Gyeoksa, many places seem to be closed on Tuesdays. Sometimes I picked up simple beer and snacks from a convenience store. And when you go to Jeonju, be sure to try ''moju''!
- What to bring
: It’s a good idea to bring a lint roller to remove hair and a book you can read during spare moments. Honestly, you don’t need that much luggage for a trip. I brought a suitcase, but during the month-long stay many items felt like a hassle. There were things I regretted bringing. Think once more when you pack. It’s great to be excited about the trip, but a bag as heavy as your expectations can be a bit tiring.
My gap year is!
Experience ★★★★★
: I loved wandering around, learning life lessons, and having musical experiences — it was wonderful!
Learning ★★★★
: For me, the biggest and most enjoyable learning came from the reading I did during my relaxed free time.
Environment ★★★★★
: Jeonju was peaceful and the surroundings were very pleasant.
Leisure ★★★★★
: During the one-month stay, I enjoyed various cultural experiences!
