    Program OVERVIEW

    Why Mediatern and what is the purpose of it?

    Interns coming to South Korea often do not feel engaged or entertained during their program, therefore KGY has designed a program with a focus on entertainment, centered around exploring Korean culture, language, and sights. This initiative involves a blend of workshops and internships, with an emphasis on video content creation, to ensure interns simultaneously learn and have fun.

    KoreaGapYear offers a unique blend of training, internship, and workshop designed for international participants  who want to experience South Korea deeply while developing content creation skills. 

    Each week focuses on a specific theme related to South Korean culture and society. Participants will attend a thematic meeting, and create content throughout the week, and present their work for feedback and improvement.

    KGY KoreaGapYear is a trusted organization dedicated to providing meaningful volunteer experiences all over the world. Our mission is to provide volunteers with transformative experiences that benefit both the participants and the communities they serve.     Our Mediatern Program caters to individuals who are passionate about creating content that shows Korea’s great various sides it has to offer and want to have an enriching experience exploring  the world outside of the office. 

    Introduction to K-Entertainment (Example of Activies):

    ☐ K-Pop/K-Drama: History, global impact, and current trend

    ☐ Tour of a K-pop entertainment company (e.g., SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment)

    SCHEDULE (Example) 

    Activities run from Monday to Friday. Interns have free time from Saturday - Sunday. 

    Internship Activities can be carried out at different locations, it will be according to the theme of the current week

    The schedule may vary depending on the actual performance

    GENERAL SCHEDULE

    Day 1

    Week’s Thematic Meeting + Training:

     

    • Introduction to the week’s theme with Supervisors and Content Creation Director

    • Q&A and discussion about the theme

    • Overview of content expectations and goals

    Day 2

    Personal Idea Development:


    • Participants come up with Ideas and Execution Plan

    • Need to Ideas to submit to Supervisor, if accepted they can work on the content

    • Optional workshops

    Day 3 - 5

    Content Creation:


    • Participants work on creating content related to the week’s theme

    • Forms of content: blogs, videos, social media posts, photo essays, podcasts (maybe that is

    something that would be possible as well) etc.

    • Optional workshops

    Day 6

    Supervisor Confirmation:

     

    • Participants need to submit the content created on the week's theme and wait for

    confirmation

    • Judging and feedback sessions with instructors and Supervisors

    • Discussion on how

     to improve for the next week

    Day 7

    Revision and Upload:


    • Upload and Publication of Content produced the week

    ☞ Starting dates of this program are on Monday

    ☞ Communication will be in Basic Korean or English, so proficiency in one of these languages is required.

    ☞ Basic knowledge of editing and designing is not mandatory but will be helpful for the internship.

    ☞ An orientation will be held initially for a better understanding of the internship.

    ☞ No special qualifications or educational experience are required to participate in the project.

    ☞ Social programs with other participants are optional, including free activities and a variety of reasonably priced activities.

    ☞ The schedule is coordinated with interns and the assigned placement.

    ☞ To participate in this program, you need to submit an introduction video explaining why you want to participate in this internship, along with a copy of your passport. We will inform you of the details of the submitted documents after confirming your participation.

    Beginning your Internship journey with Korea GapYear (KGY) is an exciting and straightforward process to make your experience both enjoyable and enriching. Here's a step-by-step guide to how it all works.

    Welcome to the KGY MEDIATERN- Program – where every step of your journey is carefully crafted to ensure a fulfilling and unforgettable experience!

    GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
    • Age: 18+
    • You are a university student or are graduated
    • There is a correlation between your studies and/or work experience and the planned Internship
    • Commitment to Host Organization, its rules, and tasks
    • You fulfill all legal and formal requirements for your Internship
    • Proficiency in English (speaking Korean plus, as well as, Dutch, Spanish, French
      and German and Japanese)
    • Demonstrated interest in content creation, culture, or entertainment
    • Application form and personal statement (Video Format)
    • min. Duration for this Program is at least 12 Weeks.
    NOTE
    • Details about working conditions such as days and hours may vary depending on the company being placed.
    • Interns will not work on public holidays in South Korea. (If you starting date is a Monday it follows on a red day you will be working the following day)
    • Only available for age over 18+
    • Potential Company Placements Information will not be given out prior to confirmed application due to privacy reasons
