    PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

    Project Introduction

     

    Experience as a Local Connector Creating Value by Connecting Local Resources in Gwangju Metropolitan City

    At a social enterprise in Gwangju, you will engage in discussing and deliberating various local issues with local experts, organizations, and institutions.
    You will gain hands-on experience in analyzing local resources to find ways to connect people, organizations, and resources within the community to address local social problems and implement solutions together.
    Through these connections, you will share issues and derive actions for solutions. Experience firsthand the changes you can bring to your local community right now.

    PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

    Project Activities

     

    From Problem Identification to Solution Formulation! Learning and Growth Through Connections

     

     

    ■1-Month Schedule (10/10/10 Process)

    First 10 Days "Understanding the Problem": Investigate social issues within Gwangju and Jeonnam regions, and organize necessary resources.

    Middle 10 Days "Finding Solutions": Establish approaches and criteria, and share organized information with key local institutions and experts.

    Last 10 Days "Connecting": Through meetings and forums, discuss shared issues publicly, and collaboratively develop step-by-step solutions with institutions and experts.

     *The above schedule is an example and can be adapted flexibly based on personal preferences, abilities, and schedules.

     

    ■Meet various local institutions and experts over the course of a month.

    Here is an example daily schedule of activities being carried out.

    * This is an example provided to aid participants' understanding and will be operated flexibly to align with the project and local circumstances.

     

    -First 10 Days "Understanding the Problem"

    09:00 – 12:00 : Research and compile local issues

    12:00 – 13:00 : Lunch break

    13:00 – 18:00 : Site visits and meetings with relevant local institutions

     

    -Middle 10 Days "Finding Solutions"

    09:00 – 12:00 : Research based on solution ideas

    12:00 – 13:00 : Lunch break

    13:00 – 18:00 : Prepare materials to share with people and plan meetings

     

    -Last 10 Days "Connecting"

    09:00 – 12:00 :Prepare meetings and forums

    12:00 – 13:00 : Lunch break

    13:00 – 18:00 : Review schedule and finalize plans after meetings

     

     

    ■Participation Requirements

     

    Must collaborate with institutions, organizations, and experts within Gwangju and Jeonnam regions.

    Participants must be available for at least 8 hours per day and commit to a minimum of 30 days.

    You need to create a specific schedule for the actions required after the meeting.

     

    ■Additional Information

    *This program prioritizes individuals who can commit significant time each day, emphasizing consistency and diligence.

    *If participants encounter difficulties during the process, local social experts and staff will actively assist upon request.

    PROGRAM PROVIDER INTRODUCTION

    Institution Introduction

     

     

    The organization directly involved in this course has been active since 2015 and is one of Gwangju's leading social enterprises.
    Originating as a space created to listen to and support young people's career and life concerns, it operates under the motto "Supporting every new beginning in the world." The organization initiates various local projects and mobilizes people.
    Notable activities include initiatives such as "Creating a local youth community using rental apartments" and "Creating a mobile studio for elderly residents with limited mobility." Currently, it extends its activities from Gwangju to the wider Jeollanam-do region.


    The organization comprises individuals experienced in diverse fields, fostering collaborative relationships with local developers, planners, artists, policy institutions, and other experts and organizations. This collaborative network enables participants to creatively and effectively address regional issues of interest.

    "If you wish to create new value utilizing the diverse resources of Gwangju and Jeollanam-do, we encourage you to take on the challenge. Experts with extensive experience and resources are here to support and cheer on your growth."

     

    PROGRAM LOCATION INTRODUCTION

    ㅣ Location  :   South Korea, Gwangju

     

    1. Songjeong Market in 1913

    : Located across from KTX Gwangju Songjeong Station, this market used to be known as the daily market.
    After undergoing renovations, each shop now boasts charming signs and impressive interiors. Take a stroll around the distinctive shops.
    In particular, in the evening, it transforms into a night market with beautiful lighting and delicious food overflowing. Be sure to explore Songjeong Market in the evening as well.

     

    2. Mudeungsan Mountain

    : As Gwangju's representative mountain, it is the 21st national park designated in Korea.
    Centered around Cheonwangbong, the highest peak at 1,187 meters above sea level, the mountain showcases a spectacular landscape formed by various rocks.
    The Dangsan Tree Course is the most popular hiking trail, a 4km route that is relatively easy with no steep climbs.
    Plan for approximately 3 hours round trip before your visit.

     

    3.Gwangju City Art Museum

    : Opened in 1992, this museum represents Gwangju and played a significant role in establishing the Gwangju Biennale in 1995.
    It features a total of 6 exhibition halls, a children's art museum, cultural center, library, and seminar rooms.
    Parking and admission are free, so if you enjoy exhibitions, visit at least once.

     

    4. Gwangjuho Lake Eco Park

    : Located on the border between Gwangju City and Damyang County, Gwangjuho Lake Eco Park offers a tranquil space to unwind.
    It features ecological ponds, wetland conservation areas, a lake, an observatory, Metasequoia-lined paths, groves of bird trees, and plenty of picturesque photo spots.
    Visit to capture photos and experience a healing atmosphere.

     

    5. 518 Freedom Park

    : This is the site where the military court and executions took place at the time of the May 1980 Gwangju Uprising.
    During the democratization movement on May 18, 1980, some political prisoners who opposed the military's suppression while praying for regime change were detained and oppressed here.
    The military court at Sangmu-dae and Yeongchang, originally located nearby, were moved about 100 meters away and restored to this location, where the historical events of the May 18th Democratization Movement are recreated.
