-The Story of Hwangjeon Village in Gurye

Since ancient times, Hwangjeon Village has been known for its fertile land and abundant crops in the fields, which is believed to be why it was named Hwangdun (黃芚). Following administrative consolidations, the characters 黃 from Hwangdun and 田 from Ujeon (牛田) were combined to form the legal village name, Hwangjeon-ri (黃田里).
However, the village is more famously known as the one near Hwaeomsa Temple entrance, rather than by the name "Hwangjeon Village" itself. This has contributed to it being a constantly bustling village with visitors. In ancient times, it was where people aspiring to become monks stayed, often a village of farewells and partings from families.
Today, Hwangjeon Village hosts various festivals such as the Gurye Sansuyu Flower Festival, Seomjin River Cherry Blossom Festival, and Jirisan Narakje Festival, both large and small, depending on the season. Participating in these festivals can be a fun experience.
Exploring the stories that the village holds, one by one, can add to your ideas and talents, creating new content. Consider visiting nearby tourist attractions or developing your ideas through community interactions with residents.

-Creating local content as an artist or planner

This project allows you to participate by choosing either the artist program or the planner program.

    Option 1: Artist Local Creator
We welcome any category related to art such as crafts, fine arts, ceramics, music, dance, video, and more.
Stay in Gurye and create content using your talents!
Create watercolor paintings capturing Gurye's landscapes, crafts, documentaries related to Gurye, or music inspired by emotions felt in Gurye.
Explore the village, engage in conversations with residents, and immerse yourself in Gurye's daily life, where your inspirations will blossom into beautiful outcomes :)

    Option 2: Planner Local Creator

Plan projects that can be conducted within the village such as village festivals, creating murals, local specialty flea markets, and organizing community events around Jirisan.
You can collaborate with residents or young people staying in Gurye as travelers.
Selecting these scattered gems of materials and combining them with your ideas will result in wonderful outcomes :)
This is an opportunity to unleash ideas about and haven't yet put into action!
The more effort you put in, the more rewarding the results will be, right?
It will be a great time where my talents and the local area can coexist harmoniously.

    ACCOMMODATION

    Accommodation Introduction

A cozy and charming countryside retreat

Located between Jirisan Mountain and the Seomjin River, this house is a beautifully renovated old countryside home. It consists of the main house where the owner lives, a separate guesthouse for visitors, and a shared deck area.

The shared space includes a spacious deck adjoining the owner's workshop, where you can listen to music, enjoy a cup of tea (or perhaps a glass of wine...), and relax in peace and solitude.
Additionally, there's a laundry room and a kitchen available for your convenience :)

Despite its age, the owners maintain it meticulously, providing a snug living space. You'll find joy in discovering its delightful interior design.
Furthermore, there are three adorable animal mascots here. Meet Jam, a shy Dachshund who loves people and enthusiastically wags his tail from a distance. Then there's Bread, a super-friendly dog brought here during volunteer work with singer Lee Hyori. Lastly, there's Star, the only cat (or so they say?), a rescued stray who ensures you won't feel lonely during your stay :)

Gurye 5-Day Market is a traditional market held on the 3rd, 8th, 13th, 18th, 23rd, and 28th of every month.
