PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

Thailand, a holy place for backpackers, especially Chiang Rai, Thailand, where many long-term backpackers are to enjoy the leisurely and beautiful scenery of Thailand, play with young children and share their love with them

►1. Enjoy the Real Local of Thailand! Live in Chiang Rai, where long-term backpackers must go to!

Where the Thai government offices pay attention, Chiang Rai!

The Gold Clock Tower, a clock tower that holds a lighting show every evening to commemorate the accession of Thailand's king, is located 450m above sea level and is full of places where you can meet real Thailand, including viewing wildlife such as giraffes, Singha Park with activities such as flower fields, lakes, animal farms, and hot air balloons, and Elephant Camp at Karen Village, where about 30 elephants and the Karen, a minority in Thailand, live together.

Live in this place where many Western tourists stay for a long time to feel the culture of the East and feel the proper Thailand with your new found international friends!

► 2. Thailand, Laos and Myanmar → The Golden Triangle, seeing everything at once! Your Journey starts here and now!

The Golden Triangle, a border area between Myanmar, Laos, and Thailand, has long been a war-hit area and an area where more than 80 percent of the world's drugs were illegally traded. However, with the declaration of retirement by the ruling powers in 1995, green tea and coffee are now grown. In particular, it is the origin of Doichang coffee, which is famous not only in Korea but also in the world. Close to Laos and Myanmar, visit many countries in Southeast Asia during the break time other than volunteer work, and feel a new culture different from that of Thailand!

► 3. Even if you don't speak English! Even if you don't have any special skills! As long as you can play well with the kids, anyone is WELCOME

When I want to do activities with my children, but I don't have enough skills to teach English! When I feel physically challenged to do outdoor activities! When I want to show my talents and share my love, but I don't have any special skills! This project is designed to solve the problems of you who have these worries. If you want to go back to your innocence and have fun with children who are still happy with your existence, this project is the answer!

►4. When you're tired of complicated relationships, when you're tired of city life, when you want to boost your Sense of SELF

Every day I go through a hectic schedule, relationships that cringe because I don't want to get hurt as I get older, I keep thinking about who I am and what I'm good at. If you want to live a different life than now, the first thing that must change is the environment, people, and time. Why don't you take time for yourself in Chiang Rai, Thailand, with your foreign friends from all over the world, away from your planned and busy daily life? After working on this project, you will find yourself with a lot of confidence and self-esteem!

When I first visited this place, I liked it because it was such a quiet and quiet village. There were shelters throughout a large vacant lot such as a playground, and foreigners of various nationalities were sitting in groups and chatting at each shelter. I approached them first and greeted them with joy as if I had known them a long time ago. And pure children who run toward the volunteers first with a smile.

It is recommended for those who want to find their original innocence and confidence that they lost by laughing, enjoying, chatting happily with foreign friends and innocent children in such a secluded village. Healing in Chiang Rai, taking away the stress of daily life, returning to the innocence of childhood through time with children and recharging them with love. You will never see a more perfect trip again :)

WHAT IS THE RIGHT DURATION TO DO THE PROGRAM?

This project is a volunteer activity with children, and as time goes by, the intimacy with the children will increase, which will greatly improve the satisfaction and self-esteem from the relationship. In addition, many participants usually miss out on adapting to unfamiliar environments until the second to fourth weeks, so we recommend at least six weeks to spend a true gap year, and many people usually participate for about 12 weeks.

*This schedule is an example to help you understand, and can be changed flexibly depending on the local situation, class schedule, and detailed schedule.

Activities run from Tuesday to Saturday. Volunteers have free time Saturday afternoon to Monday afternoon. They can travel to the surrounding area or go out to play in the city during this time, and no meals are provided at the institution. (No room and board expenses are provided.)

PROGRAM FURTHER INFORMATION

No special qualifications or educational experience are required to proceed with the project.

During the Thai holiday and vacation season, from late February to mid-May to October, official classes will not be held, but project recruitment will take place. During this period, you will mainly participate in English camps held by institutions or work on making English educational materials for children. Also, because of the flexible schedule, outdoor activities such as serving local communities, painting, and fixing buildings damaged by heavy rain can take place.

Activities are optional, with free activities and a variety of activities available at reasonable prices.

The schedule is coordinated with volunteers. In addition, the above outdoor activities may be carried out in a flexible manner depending on the field situation

To participate in this program, you need to submit an English criminal record certificate, an English insurance certificate, and a copy of your passport, and we will inform you of the details of the submitted documents after confirming your participation.

PROGRAM FURTHER INFORMATION

You don't have to worry about having a dedicated teacher where volunteers work. Volunteers are usually responsible for helping with the tasks that are necessary for class planning. Volunteers organize and manage materials related to education and class planning through a website dedicated to volunteers. This data is recorded every time a class is conducted, which is the most important role to play in each class and to sustain the education curriculum.

* Class-related data is for exchanging information and sharing class ideas with other volunteers, and even if you are not good at English, you can write enough to understand what you did today through a translator or dictionary.

.

ENGLISH SKILL REQUIREMENT ★★☆☆☆ / PHYSICAL STRENGTH REQUIREMENT ☆☆☆

Communication with children is not directly used in English, so it is enough if basic communication is possible. However, since I communicate and live in English with local staff and other volunteers, I need enough English skills to have no problems in my daily life.

Basic physical strength may be required because most of the activities are with energetic children. Before you start a project, check your physical strength yourself!

PROGRAM PROVIDER INTRODUCTION

LOCAL INSTITUTION INTRODUCTION

It is an NGO organization established in 2004 starting with five university students who are gathered as one of the goals of helping develop the local community in Thailand. We are working on various projects to have a positive impact on the local community and to help people in marginalized communities live better lives.

Located about a 40-minute drive from downtown Chiang Rai, the organization is family-like, with local staff and volunteers gathering together to form a village. There are buildings in the village, including accommodations and restaurants where volunteers stay, and workshops where ethnic minority women make and sell handicrafts, and it is an atmosphere full of joy and passion that local staff and volunteers from all over the world are in harmony.

A Word from the Local Agency Representative

Want to learn different cultures, go back to nature, live simple and help minority communities? Then, make sure to participate in this project! If you want to do activities that teach children but hesitate to apply because of English,  As a childcare teacher, I recommend this activity to you to have fun with Chiang Rai minority children, help with classes, and take care of them. I'll be waiting for the day to meet you through this project, which starts on the first and third Monday of every month :)

ACCOMMODATION

ACCOMMODATION INTRODUCTION

Participants will live in volunteer accommodations, which are managed and operated directly by local organizations. The buildings are all made up of nature-friendly buildings, so you will be able to experience the culture and life of the local residents firsthand. Meals are served for three breakfast/lunch/dinner meals during the service period (from Monday lunch to Saturday lunch) except during free weekends, and are served almost every meal with rice.

PROGRAM LOCATION INTRODUCTION

LOCATION INTRODUCTION

LOCATION :   THAILAND, Chiang Rai

An exciting place where diverse emotions come to life, Chiang Rai!

Chiang Rai is a unique area where the borders of Laos and Myanmar are intertwined around the Mekong River, which flows in the north. Because of this, the residents of the region have long lost their places and have to accept the damage of the war whenever there is a border war between Myanmar and Thailand.

Furthermore, the production and sale of opium in the region was prevalent in the 20th century, devastating both the local economy and the lives of residents. Fortunately, since the 1970s, the Thai government has actively worked to eradicate opium by strengthening sanctions on opium and converting all poppy fields into coffee fields, transforming it into a world-famous coffee producing city. Still, it has heartbreaking traces of history in every corner of the region.

However, the untouched natural scenery, hidden attractions, and the nightly bustle of the night market create a simple but lively atmosphere, and it is also an attractive city where backpackers are constantly visiting. Plan your own gap year by volunteering in this place where people who live a simple life with small pleasures live together.
