PROGRAM REVIEW

I wanted to apply right away because even beginners in Japanese can participate and there are a lot of activities ! When I first came, the teachers, staff, and friends welcomed me so warmly that I quickly realized that it was really different from a regular school. Everyone was really friendly and did their best to help me even with things that had nothing to do with school, so I was able to enjoy life in Kyoto without any difficulties! The school activities were the best! It was possible to learn about Japanese culture through activities and cultural experiences, and I was able to make many friends from all over the world. I really, really had a great time!

I didn't know Japanese very well, so I was really worried even before I arrived in Japan. But those concerns were resolved immediately upon arrival. Teachers, staff, homestay hosts, and friends all welcomed me warmly, making it easy for me to adapt. Also, since it was a small class with a great teacher, I found Japanese to be surprisingly easy. The teachers were so professional that they made the classes very easy to understand, even for beginners like me.

Also, students from many countries came together and used Japanese every day because it was the only means of communication. The various activities and Japanese classes are the best! It was really good practice to speak Japanese while participating in various cultural experiences and activities .

The school where the project is being carried out is located in the center of Kyoto city, making transportation very convenient . If you imagine a school where you study, you can imagine a very quiet and strict atmosphere. However, the biggest advantage of this school is that it has a very casual and free atmosphere, so even first-time students can adapt without difficulty. The cafeteria located within the school sells a variety of drinks, so  you can freely talk and communicate with your friends in the school lounge after school.

Another advantage is that not only foreign students but also local Japanese people visit a lot . In general, when studying abroad, there are few opportunities to meet and communicate with local people in person. However, this school regularly holds events for language exchange between foreign students and local Japanese people . This project  was designed for those who want to learn real Japanese, not for formal language study. If you want to learn Japanese properly, hurry up and apply!

* Detailed reviews from participants  can be found at Gap Year Story (click) .

* More participant reviews can be found in “Participant Reviews” at the bottom of the project.

The school where this project is operated is a Japanese language specialized educational institution located in the center of Kyoto, which is highly accessible. This is where foreign students of various nationalities visit every week to learn Japanese. We are trying to learn conversation-oriented Japanese with various activities and use it directly. On-campus teachers are made up of proven professional instructors who have the qualifications necessary for Japanese language education, so we provide professional education carefully tailored to each student's level so that even students who are new to Japanese can learn easily.

Unlike other language schools focused on further education, the school develops and teaches a Japanese language education curriculum that focuses on short-term international students. In particular, classes are small classes consisting of up to eight people, allowing them to learn Japanese more intensively. In addition, foreign students of various nationalities live in Japan and provide 24-hour emergency contact networks in case of trouble, so they can get help in case of an emergency.

In addition, it is officially certified by the Global Exchange Association (ALTO) specializing in linguistics, and has its own community space on campus, so you can meet Japanese friends who want to study foreign languages at any time, play studies or games, and interact with Japanese friends living in Kyoto through the school's own exchange program so that you can learn Japanese in real life and naturally learn Japanese culture. This institution is the best Japanese language school that provides the best educational environment for those who want to know, feel, and experience Japanese language and culture properly in a short period of time.
