A word from the local organization representative

I'm Mey, the person in charge of managing the local volunteers. I've been running this program for a long time and have had the opportunity to work with many different foreign volunteers. One thing I want to tell volunteers is not to hesitate to ask for help whenever you're in a difficult situation or have a problem. Please feel free to speak up!
My colleagues and I work tirelessly to support volunteers, helping with many things including cultural differences. The accommodations and partner organizations where you will volunteer are very safe and vetted. However, please don't come with overly high expectations about Cambodia.Through this program you'll make new volunteer friends and won't feel lonely. It's best to come with an open mind!

During the project, you will stay in a guesthouse-style volunteer accommodation with other participants. You can enjoy communal living and meet friends from various nationalities.
The accommodation is operated and managed directly by a local partner organization and is located in the city center, allowing you to live safely. Rooms are typically shared by up to three people, and each room is equipped with a private bathroom, air conditioning, and basic furniture. The common areas include tables, chairs, and a balcony for relaxation, so you can rest or spend time with friends in the evenings or on weekends.
Regarding meals, at the designatedrestaurant, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are providedThey are provided, and you can choose your preferred menu; lunch can be taken as a packed meal. Breakfast is usually simple, such as bread, eggs, and fruit served with tea, while lunch and dinner offer a variety of dishes like fried rice, noodles, curry, and meat dishes. The accommodation is located in Phnom Penh, making it convenient to participate in the project on weekdays and sightsee around on weekends. It takes about a 20-minute walk from the accommodation to the host organization, or about 10 minutes by tuk-tuk, Cambodia’s mode of transport. (One-way fare is expected to be about $2.)

Cambodia's transport infrastructure is underdeveloped, and public transit systems like city buses and subways are not well established. The main modes of transport are motorcycle taxis (riding on the back of a motorcycle) and three-wheeled tuk-tuks, which are motorcycles converted into tricycles. Motorcycle taxis are very dangerous in terms of safety. Therefore, even if it costs a bit more, we recommend using tuk-tuks for safety.Unlike conventional taxis, tuk-tuks do not have fixed fares; prices are negotiated with the driver each time. Recently, people often use mobile apps to book and pay for tuk-tuks.
Typical one-way fares start at about 2 USD, and costs vary greatly depending on distance, time of day, and number of passengers. You may be surprised at Cambodia's unfamiliar transport system at first compared to your home country, but if you understand the relatively limited infrastructure and adapt to the local culture, you'll have a more enjoyable time in Cambodia!

01 Apsara Dance
The Apsara dance is a form of Khmer traditional dance, and similar dances can be found in neighboring Southeast Asian countries. However, the slow and graceful movements that define the Apsara dance are uniquely Cambodian. It is such an important tradition that Apsara dancers are carved in bas-relief at Angkor Wat. Many restaurants offer dinner shows featuring Apsara dance, so if you want to experience authentic Cambodia, be sure to see one.

02 Phnom Penh Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda

03 Angkor Wat
If there is one attraction visitors to Cambodia must see, it is Angkor Wat. It is archaeologically valuable and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
