Program Introduction

This project isa volunteer program caring for elephants in Jaipur, India's romantic Pink CityDon't miss the chance to pet, cuddle, and connect with these beautiful elephants up close! By spending time with the elephants, you will experience a special happiness you can't feel in everyday lifeYou will be able to.

Elephants areone of the largest animals living on Earth. They are not animals you can easily encounter in daily life, so most people's memories of elephants are probably just watching them from a distance at the zoo.

An opportunity to meet elephants up close like never before!Feed them, help with their baths, and interact with the elephants directly. Elephants that know how to live with humans are affectionate and gentle, responding to volunteers' touch. Place your hand on an elephant and feel its warmth. It will become a lifelong cherished memory.

Living in modern society often brings wounds from many different relationships. If old wounds are making you struggle, consider taking time away from human relationships to fully recover yourselfHow about taking that time?

Being alongside the elephants who live each day in the nature of Jaipur, India allows you to experience something special. Elephants are sensitive and intelligent creatures; they return trust for trust and love for love. Because they don't communicate with words, you can find solace that touches you more directly. Through the elephants' comfort, heal your wounds and restore yourselfif you do, you'll gain the courage to return to everyday life once again.

Jaipur's elephant village,is working to provide an ethical environment for the elephantsThey provide comfortable shelters, limit the number of elephant tours and the number of riders per tour, and strive for coexistence. It would be great if elephant tours around the world prioritized elephants like Jaipur's elephant village does, but that is not always the reality.

Through this project,an opportunity to rethink human-elephant coexistenceTake that opportunity. Simply thinking about what you can do to bring about positive change can be the start. Please join us in the process of making a better world!

A word from the planner

Q. Why are elephant tours problematic?

During the process of taming elephants, abuse continues, and because elephants are not structurally suited to carrying people, many suffer various health problems, including spinal disorders. Many environmental organizations are rescuing elephants used in tours, but much more effort is still needed.

The elephant shelter in Jaipur is government-run and prioritizes the protection of elephants. It offers elephant care programs for tourists to raise awareness about the ethical coexistence of humans and elephants.

Please join us in paying attention so that more elephants can live in safe and comfortable environments.

Location Overview

Region:India, Jaipur

Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan, located in northern India. In the mid-19th century, the entire city was painted pink to commemorate the visit of the British prince, earning it the nickname "Pink City." Even today, building regulations require new buildings to be painted in colors similar to their surroundings, preserving the Pink City's reputation. A combined ticket valid for two days is also sold for tourists, which can be very helpful when traveling in Jaipur.

Recommended destinations

01 Hawa Mahal

Painted in beautiful colors, Hawa Mahal is the most striking architectural landmark in Jaipur. With around 900 small windows, it was built for the royal women who were not allowed to appear in public; its design prevents people outside from looking in while allowing those inside to look out. The hundreds of windows also serve as vents, helping to keep the interior cool during hot summers, which is why it is also called the Palace of Winds.

02 Amber Palace

Amber Palace is a fortress built in a mountainous area, renowned for its artistic value that blends Islamic and Indian cultures. It is one of the most magnificent forts in India: its ornate halls and courtyards and centuries-old temples capture attention, and it overlooks a beautiful lake, making it a popular attraction visited by many tourists every day.

03 Jantar Mantar

Jantar Mantar is one of the observatories built in the 18th century. "Jantar Mantar" means "magical instrument" in Sanskrit. Maharaja Jai Singh II, who had a keen interest in science and astronomy, built a total of five observatories. Among them, Jaipur's Jantar Mantar is the largest and features the world's largest sundial, which reaches 27 meters in height.
