Chiang RaiOutside the city center, fields stretch to meet the sky, and quaint houses blend with nature in a peaceful, picturesque landscape.
A shelter surrounded by about 3,200 pyeong of fruit trees in the vast natural setting offers an ideal environment for sick and abandoned dogs and cats to recover both physically and emotionally.Please join the volunteer effort and care for them directly so that many dogs and cats can live without worrying about food, that hearts hurt by abuse can regain hope, that sick bodies can be treated, and that they can run and play freely in the wide yard.
In Thailand, more than 100,000 dogs are abandoned each year.Stray dogs are left on the streets without owners or tragically traded by smuggling criminal organizations. Pets are sometimes stolen, and abandonment and abuse continue. The Thai government is trying to care for them through animal shelters but is struggling with shortages of personnel and financial issues. If warm hands and attention gather in Chiang Rai, a change in awareness and culture toward animals is possible.Please care for abandoned animals at the shelter, help them find new homes, and give them safety and love.
Chiang Rai still lacks widespread awareness of animal welfare and needs change.While some residents view stray animals with warmth, others see them as hygiene problems or safety threats and may treat or abuse them harshly. The first step toward change begins with caring for and loving abandoned animals. Efforts to clean them, feed them, and find them new homes reduce the number of animals left on the streets and protect both animals and people from various diseases. This process helps animals be perceived as safe by people and contributes to a society where animals and humans coexist.Join volunteer activities to care for animals, plan and carry out various campaigns, and take the lead in changing animal welfare awareness in Chiang Rai.

When hurt, closed-off animals gradually open their hearts to me and begin to trust, those moments lead to a time of sorting through the hardships and uncomfortable emotions I have carried.Time spent with injured animals provides emotional comfort and a time for healingIt does. For those tired of life, it offers ample rest, increased empathy, and a more positive outlook. The enjoyable trips and leisure time spent with volunteers who have come from around the world to help Chiang Rai’s animals will help restore one’s life and support a new beginning.

- Before officially starting the project, local orientationwill be conducted.
- Participants Monday morningarrive at Chiang Rai Airport and meet the local coordinator. After traveling together to the accommodation, rest freely.

- Tuesday morning, an orientation covering volunteer activities and daily life orientationwill be conducted.
(Introduction to Chiang Rai and cultural understanding, living tips, safety precautions, etc.)
- Tuesday afternoon, travel to the activity site. Meet the project coordinator, exchange greetings, receive an orientation on the accommodation and project, and take time to settle in.
- In nature, care for animals, share love Give it a try. ❣️
Additional Information
-For the safety of the animals and all participants, participants will receive basic training and instructionThis will be conducted.
Example: How to handle animals safely, animal treatment safety rules, grooming and bathing techniques, and animal care methods.
- Since most activities take place outdoors, hats or sunscreen are essential in summer. Also, for working with rescued animals, active clothing—sneakers, comfortable T-shirts and pants, gloves, etc.—is best!
- There are many outdoor activities, so personal safety is the top priority! Please follow the volunteer manager's instructions carefully and refrain from personal activities.
- To safely participate in volunteer activities, vaccinations (tetanus, etc.) and travel insuranceare recommended.
* All dogs and cats staying at the shelter have undergone initial examinations and isolation/quarantine, and are fully vaccinated.

English level required: ★★☆☆☆ Since local staff and volunteers mainly use English as the common language, you will be in an English-speaking environment. However, because the activities involve caring for dogs and cats, anyone who can communicate at a basic level can participate. Physical fitness requirement: ★★☆☆☆ Most activities with the animals take place outdoors, so a healthy level of fitness is required. Please check your health and fitness before starting the project! |

Our organization runs various projects to make a positive impact on Thai communities and to enable people and animals in marginalized areas to live happily together. In particular, we pay attention to the ongoing abandonment of dogs and cats in Thailand and strive to improve the lives of stray dogs and cats living in suffering. This project aims to protect animals, provide necessary medical care, and be companions to animals struggling to survive on the streets. Through this, we ultimately seek to raise public awareness about animal care and animal welfare.

Would you like to warm your heart by caring for abandoned animals in nature?If so, be sure to join this project. Through this project, you will bathe, feed, and hold sick and injured animals whileyou join them in the process of recovering physically and emotionally. Even though you went to care for the animals, you will find your own heart warmed and experience healing.

- Meals are prepared by the staff. After the staff leave the volunteer accommodation, volunteers are free to use the kitchen for dinner.
* During activity days (weekdays), three meals a day are provided. On weekends, you can visit local restaurants with other participants.
- The common area is freely available for chatting with fellow volunteers or reflecting on the day.
- The on-site washing machine is for animal use only; volunteers should use nearby local laundry services.

For those who find it difficult to pay in full,Pay a registration fee of 500,000 KRW in advanceand if you pay the remaining balance within two weeks, the date you paid the registration fee will be used as the referencethe process to confirm project participation will begin and availability and number of openings (TO) will be checked. To participate on your desired date and period, securing a spot quickly is important!(Non-refundable once participation is confirmed)
*However, if the start date is imminent, the schedule for paying the remaining balance may vary depending on circumstances.
■Early bird discount and urgent application Notice
All Gap Year projects require normal processing procedures and a Gap Year preparation period, so projectsare recommended to be applied for at least 3 months before the project start date.and as a rule, applications should be submitted no later than 2 months beforethat time. However, if there are unavoidable reasons or you need to join a project urgently, you can pay an additional fee for the urgent application service and we will assist with the fastest possible processing.
*We assist with the fastest possible processing, but there is a basic amount of time required for communication with local organizations and to confirm participation, and all procedures are carried out the same as for regular participants, so participants using the urgent application service must actively cooperate with the Korea Gap Year operations team.
