PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

PROJECT INTRODUCTION

A restaurant internship where you can manage in the style you want

Go beyond routine and repetitive tasks, and break free from boring, limited work sitting at a desk all day. Live with your neighbors, propose your own ideas freely based on what you see and feel, and improve the restaurant! This is a highly autonomous yet responsible role, so an active and passionate attitude is required from applicants.

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

PROJECT ACTIVITIES

1. This project will be conducted in English.

English Proficiency   ★★★☆☆

Since the main role is as a manager in a restaurant, you must be able to communicate freely with local residents,

and be capable of discussing ideas for planning and restaurant operations.

However, what matters most is enthusiasm and passion!

2. You can choose flexible working hours from Monday to Friday (minimum of 25 hours per week).

3. The restaurant operates on Thursday from 4 PM to midnight and on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 12 PM to midnight,

while the office is open from Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

Therefore, you can freely allocate your time to balance office and restaurant work based on your schedule.

1. Restaurant Manager

● Use of Social Skills

The first impression of a restaurant is shaped by its staff. Therefore, the manager must use exceptional social skills to create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages customers to return, ensuring that the staff enjoys a pleasant work environment and maintains good relations with the local community.

● Idea Proposals

As the manager works closely with customers, they receive feedback quickly. They can suggest new main dishes, free tasting menus, and ideas for special events or creative ways to boost sales. This is an opportunity to express and develop endless ideas.

● Food and Equipment Management

A manager in the food industry must have a strong sense of responsibility. They must ensure that stock levels are adequately maintained in real-time and that equipment is clean and properly stored. Additionally, they need to analyze how other restaurants operate, review sales reports, and brainstorm with colleagues on how to increase revenue.

2. Project Planner

● Creative Project Planning

Customers are interested in more diverse and fresh projects. A restaurant project planner can develop catering services for parties or special events to attract new customers. In addition, you could plan events at a cooking school you have always wanted to learn from, like team-building activities where the group cooks together. In Australia, parties for brides and grooms-to-be are also popular, and you could create a project based on your own ideas. Feel free to come up with various ideas to create your own unique event and popular restaurant.

● Enhancing Brand Loyalty

You need to create a restaurant that makes people want to return just by seeing the logo or name. Take some time to think about how to brand the restaurant more effectively and make it easier for customers to remember. Since it is a local restaurant, word of mouth spreads quickly, and customers review it in real time, so you must plan projects that truly meet customer needs.

* What is brand loyalty? It refers to the extent to which customers revisit after seeing a brand or logo.

● Customer Service Management

For your unique ideas, conduct market research on both potential and target customers, considering their lifestyles and activities. Above all, building a strong relationship with customers is crucial, so thorough customer management through various means like phone calls or emails is a key element of a successful restaurant.

* This project is an unpaid internship.

* After completing the internship, you can receive a letter of recommendation from the cooking school instructor (chef).

* You can choose between working as a restaurant manager or a project planner,

and you are free to allocate your 25-hour workweek according to your schedule.

● Real Reviews from Customers Who Visited ZIGI's Restaurant

"A hidden gem where I often come to enjoy a quiet glass of wine late at night or in the early hours. This place is truly lovely."

"This is my favorite restaurant because you can choose from various kinds of cheese, and there are so many types of wine. The food, whether Israeli or fusion, is always delicious and never disappoints."

"ZIGI was very kind, and it's the best place for those who love cheese and want to enjoy top-quality wine. If you're in Sydney, you must visit here without hesitation."

"I didn't regret visiting this cute little wine bar at all. The cheese and wine were excellent choices, and the staff was very helpful in selecting the food. I will definitely come back to this restaurant."

"My friends and I, who love cheese, beer, and wine, wanted to stay here all the time while we were in Sydney. The food was really tasty, the waitress was very friendly, and the restaurant's atmosphere was fantastic. With comfortable chairs, great music, and top-quality food without any arrogance from the staff, we were all genuinely happy during our time here. We will continue to come back during our stay in Sydney."

Restaurant Internship Where You Can Manage It According to Your Own Style

This internship takes place at a restaurant established about 9 years ago by Chef ‘Jigi’. Under the vision of “Creating unforgettable experiences with food!”, cooking classes and various event activities are conducted. As it operates small-scale projects for friends and family to participate and enjoy, it is gaining increasing recognition among local community residents.

‘Jigi’ provides catering services for birthdays, anniversaries, parties, and corporate gatherings. Valuing joy and experiences beyond just cooking, it creates diverse events and educational programs each year. The internship location, which includes a restaurant, cooking school, and wine bar all in one place, offers the advantage of experiencing various tasks and gaining ideas. Especially, the Wine & Cheese Bar, where you can taste famous cheeses from around the world, has recently gained a lot of popularity. Additionally, as interns from different countries freely design and transform this place, you can feel a lively and vibrant atmosphere.

ACCOMMODATION

ACCOMMODATION INTRODUCTION

 Optional Extras

This project offers additional optional extras, such as a 4-day stay in a 4-person shared hostel room in Australia. After 4 days, you can choose whether to continue staying in the hostel or move to a shared house. The accommodation is located right next to Central Station in the heart of Sydney, providing convenient access to all forms of transportation including express buses, city buses, and trains.

The internship location is about 900 meters from the accommodation, making walking the best option (approximately 10 minutes). The hostel, being the largest in Australia, offers the advantage of spacious and open areas. During the 4-day stay, participants will need to manage their own breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Meals can be arranged at nearby restaurants, convenience stores, or by shopping at supermarkets and cooking in the hostel's kitchen.

Wi-Fi is available for an additional fee, and participants will use shared showers and restrooms. Facilities such as ATMs, telephones, hairdryers, and towels are provided. Daily activities such as BBQ parties, wine parties, and movie days are organized, with optional fees for participation. Additional amenities include a TV room, swimming pool, and entertainment facilities. Enjoy chatting with gap year/working holiday participants from around the world in the cafeteria! This lively and exciting place is a great starting point for your life in Australia. If you wish to include the 4-day hostel stay, please select this option when making your project payment.

PROGRAM LOCATION INTRODUCTION

LOCATION INTRODUCTION

Location: Australia, Sydney

Sydney is a city that harmonizes two contrasting charms: it is busy but also a bit relaxed. The city center is bustling, reflecting Australia's top city, but just a 15-minute walk away, you'll find places where you can enjoy some peace. Whether it’s office workers taking a nap in Hyde Park, artists showcasing their somewhat awkward creations at Darling Harbour, or people sunbathing shirtless around the Opera House, everyone finds their own way to relax amidst the busy city life.

Heading to the outskirts, you'll find vast beaches that blend with the blue sky, reminiscent of a scene from an advertisement. Especially from December to March, Manly and Bondi Beach become a paradise for water sports enthusiasts from around the world, filled with surfing and yachting. If you’re used to a busy lifestyle, take this opportunity to enjoy the leisurely pace of Sydney.

Top 3 Recommended Travel Destinations by the Planner

1. Watsons Bay

Watsons Bay, a quaint and charming village, is famous for Gap Park and the stunning cliffs of the Bay. The peaceful harbor contrasts with the rugged waves and sheer cliffs on the opposite side, offering a variety of attractions. The coastal cliff walkway provides breathtaking views, and the white lighthouse perched in the middle adds a touch of elegance, allowing you to experience grandeur within tranquility.

Don’t miss the 'Lady Bay', a nudist beach that is not available in Korea. Also, remember to visit Robertson Park, which offers a panoramic view of Sydney.

2. Darling Harbour

When you think of 'Sydney', you think of its harbors, and 'Darling Harbour' is the quintessential one! Located just about 10 minutes from the city, Darling Harbour is a romantic spot beloved by both locals and tourists. Once a beach for shell collecting, it has now transformed into a bustling area with parks, shopping centers, theaters, aquariums, restaurants, and pubs.

After a busy day, take a moment to visit Darling Harbour and soak in the atmosphere. Also, a visit to the nearby Fish Market to taste Sydney’s fresh seafood is highly recommended!

3. The Rocks Market

The Rocks Market is a symbolic space that showcases Sydney's old buildings well-preserved from the past to the present. Be sure to visit the weekend-only Rocks Market, where you can discover the true essence of Australia. On weekends, the area around Playfair Street and the northern end of George Street is bustling with tourists, locals, and vendors.

It’s a unique opportunity to watch artisans create glass crafts and taste various homemade foods by locals. Also, handcrafted items and jewelry made by artists are available, so find a unique accessory that suits you. Escape the busy city and experience being a true Australian for the day at The Rocks Market.
