It is one of the most famous and beloved cities in the worldLearn English in the heart of the world and become a New Yorker! You'll have an opportunity to grow and expand your horizons.

 

 

 

New York is considered a global capital, a hub for various fields such as economy, culture, and fashion. That's why it is one of the most desired cities to live in by people from all around the world. It also provides a great global environment to start learning a new language.

Start learning English with friends from various countries who come to New York with their own goals and passions! Studying with many friends will make learning more enjoyable and help you improve your skills quickly. Don’t miss the chance to grow into a global talent from the center of the world!

 

Movies and dramas like ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, ‘Begin Again’, ‘The Intern’, and ‘August Rush’ are set in New York. If you’ve ever dreamed of the beautiful New York depicted in these films and imagined yourself as a New Yorker, now is your chance to make that dream a reality!

The language school where this project is conducted is located near the iconic Charging Bull statue on Wall Street. With Wall Street just a 5-minute walk away, you’ll encounter New Yorkers who drive the global economy in their daily lives. Not only is the school close to Wall Street and various landmarks in New York, but public transportation is also conveniently accessible. Each day starting from the heart of New York will surely be much more special than you imagined.

 

To improve your English skills, it’s important to use English frequently in daily life. The language school adopts a policy of using only English from the first day, which helps you learn English in an enjoyable and communicative way. The curriculum is meticulously designed to include essential grammar and vocabulary for reading and writing, ensuring balanced growth.

Additionally, a variety of extracurricular activities are prepared, allowing you to naturally explore New York. Build your English confidence quickly and grow as a part of New York!

PROJECT ACTIVITIES

 

This project is a language study program that allows you to enjoy life as a New Yorker and learn English in the heart of Manhattan, New York. Experience authentic American English and the most enjoyable and glamorous New York lifestyle!


 

Project Activities

  • The program consists of 20 English lessons per week, with each lesson lasting 50 minutes. Participants can choose between Schedule A or B when applying for the project.
  • Additional activity classes are held on Friday afternoons. Depending on the season and schedule, you can participate in various activities such as cooking classes, wine tastings, Easter egg decorating, yoga classes, and Halloween pumpkin carving.

 

Option A: Morning Class Schedule
10:00 ~ 11:25 Class
11:25 ~ 11:45 Break
11:45 ~ 13:30 Class

 

Option B: Afternoon Class Schedule
11:45 ~ 13:30 Class
13:30 ~ 14:00 Break
14:00 ~ 16:00 Class

* The above schedule is an example for reference. You will receive a detailed schedule after taking a level test on-site.

 

 

Additional Information

  • This project runs year-round and starts every Monday. Participants can choose a language study period between 3 and 12 weeks.
  • Each class consists of an average of 8-12 students.
  • You will be placed in a suitable class based on a level test conducted before the project starts.
  • An orientation will be held on the Monday when the project begins.
  • If desired, you can opt for a homestay accommodation. The commute from the homestay to the school takes about 25-45 minutes by public transport.

Homestays offer the perfect opportunity to experience real American life and learn the language. All host families strive to provide a safe and comfortable environment during your stay. Homestays are assigned throughout New York City, and are located in convenient locations for public transportation.

Accommodations are available in various locations within and outside Manhattan, and costs vary depending on the location.

  • Towels and basic bedding are provided by the homestay family.
  • Breakfast is included, and dinner can be provided at an additional cost.
  • Please inquire in advance if you require special diets such as vegan or gluten-free.
  • It takes approximately 25–45 minutes by public transportation from the homestay to the school.
  • Participants will use a shared bathroom. Private bathroom options are available upon request, so please inquire if desired.

02 Rockefeller Center Observation Deck

Installment Payment Information

If you are unable to pay the full amount upfront, you can pay a registration fee of 500,000 KRW first and then pay the remaining balance within 2 weeks. Based on the date of the registration fee payment, we will proceed with the confirmation process for project participation and check availability. Securing a spot early is crucial for your preferred dates and duration! (No refunds once participation is confirmed.)

* Note that the payment schedule for the remaining balance may vary if the start date is approaching.

 

Early Bird Discount and Emergency Application

We recommend applying for all Gap Year projects at least 3 months before the project start date due to the normal procedures and preparation period. Applications should be submitted no later than 2 months before the start date. However, if you need to apply urgently, we offer an emergency application service for an additional fee to expedite the process.

* Although we strive to expedite the process, there is basic time required for communication with local agencies and confirmation of participation. Emergency applicants should cooperate actively with the Korea Gap Year team.
