The Effects of the Irish Transition Year System
The middle school free semester system is a system that supports students to find their aptitude and talent and set their career path without the burden of exams for one semester during the three years of middle school. During this period, students participate in discussions, field training, and project implementation, learn about various cultures, and participate in arts, physical education, and career programs.
Ireland’s Transition Year System, which is modeled after the Free Semester System, has emerged as a social problem due to severe educational competition, just like in Korea in the past.
