[KGY Immigration Information] 🇨🇳 China Visa Application

*The following visa information is based on the purpose of visiting India to participate in a Korea GapYear project.

Visa and Entry Information for China

✅ Visa Application Procedure

  1. Online Application:
    Complete the visa application form online at China Visa Application Center and print the confirmation page and application form. Before visiting the China Visa Application Center, make sure to sign the application form and confirmation page at item number 9.
  2. Submit Documents in Person:
    Visit the China Visa Application Center to submit your documents and provide biometric fingerprints.
    Exemption from Fingerprints:
    Certain individuals may be exempt from providing fingerprints, including:
    • Children under 14 years old or seniors over 70 years old
    • Holders of diplomatic passports or those eligible for diplomatic, official, or courtesy visas
    • Individuals who have already provided fingerprints in the last 5 years for the same passport and same consulate
    • Persons who are unable to provide all 10 fingerprints
    • Applicants for single or double-entry business, tourist, companion, transit, or crew visas from August 10, 2023, to December 31, 2024, may also be exempt from fingerprinting.

✅ Required Documents for Visa Application

  1. Completed Application Form and Confirmation Page:
    If your online application photo was not accepted, submit one passport-size photo along with your application.
  2. Passport:
    The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the application date and have blank visa pages. Provide the original passport and a photocopy of the information page.
  3. Additional Documents (for Third-Country Nationals):
    If you are a non-national residing in a third country, submit your valid foreign registration card, visa, or entry confirmation document for your current country of residence.
  4. Previous Chinese Passport or Visa (if applicable):
    If you were previously a Chinese citizen and have acquired a foreign nationality, submit the original and a photocopy of the previous Chinese passport. If you have changed names, include a government-issued name change certificate.
  5. Visa-Specific Documents:

    X1 Visa

    (Long-term Study, over 180 days)

    1) Original admission letter and "Foreign Student Admission Confirmation" form (JW201 or JW202) from the Chinese institution.

    2)For younger students (middle school, primary school), a specific "Foreign Student Confirmation" form is required.

    X2 Visa

    (Short-term Study, 180 days or less)

    Original and photocopy of the admission letter from the Chinese institution.

     

  6. Special Circumstances (e.g., Humanitarian Reasons):
    • Submit identification (Chinese ID or foreign passport), death certificate, hospital diagnosis, notice of critical illness, and proof of family relationship if you are applying due to a family emergency or humanitarian reason.

✅ Important Notes

  1. Accurate and Complete Information:
    Ensure all the details in your application form are accurate, including your name, gender, date of birth, passport number, and country of issuance. Inaccuracies or the use of incorrect photos may result in your application being rejected.
  2. Submit All Required Documents:
    You must apply for the correct visa type based on your visit purpose. Providing false or incomplete information may result in refusal of your visa or entry to China.
  3. Verification of Documents:
    The consulate may verify your documents with relevant departments or organizations. You may be asked to submit additional documents or attend an interview.
  4. Visa Issuance:
    The visa issuing authority will decide on the visa type, duration, and number of entries based on individual cases. The authority reserves the right to reject or cancel your visa.
  5. Feedback and Inquiries:

🇺🇸 United States

  1. Online Application:
  2. Documents Required:
    • Passport (valid for at least 6 months beyond the planned stay).
    • Completed visa application form.
    • Recent passport-sized photo.
    • Other documents depending on visa type (e.g., admission letter for students, invitation letter for business).
  3. Fingerprints:
    All applicants aged 14-70 are required to submit biometric data (fingerprints).
  4. Submission:
    Submit the documents to the nearest Chinese Visa Application Center or consulate.
  5. Processing Time:
    Typically 4-5 business days. Expedited processing is available for an additional fee.

🇬🇧 United Kingdom

  1. Online Application:
    • Complete the online application at VisaForChina.
    • Print the confirmation page and application form.
  2. Documents Required:
    • Passport (valid for at least 6 months).
    • Completed visa application form.
    • One recent passport photo.
    • Proof of travel arrangements or invitation letter.
  3. Fingerprints:
    Applicants aged 14-70 must provide biometric fingerprints.
  4. Submission:
    Submit documents at the China Visa Application Service Center or the Chinese consulate in London.
  5. Processing Time:
    Standard processing takes 4-5 working days.

🇨🇦 Canada

  1. Online Application:
  2. Documents Required:
    • Passport (valid for 6 months).

    • Passport-size photo.

    4-5 business days.

🇫🇷 France

  1. Online Application:
    Complete the visa application form via the Visa For China website.
  2. Documents Required:

  3. Fingerprints:

    The typical processing time is 4-5 business days.

General Regulations

  • Fingerprint Requirement:
    All applicants between 14 and 70 years old must provide fingerprints at the time of application, unless exempted for specific reasons (e.g., senior citizens, children, or specific visa types).
  • Additional Documentation:
    Depending on the type of visa (tourist, student, business), additional documents may be required, such as invitation letters, business agreements, or university acceptance letters.
  • Processing Time and Fees:
    Processing time typically takes 4-5 business days, but expedited services are available at an additional cost. Fees vary depending on the nationality, visa type, and processing speed.
