✅ Bali Tourism Tax:
Starting from February 14, 2024, all foreign visitors arriving in Bali will be subject to a tourism tax of 150,000 IDR (approximately) per person for single entry.
- Online payment: Required before arrival via the "Love Bali" website.
- Exemptions: Diplomats, government visa holders, KITAS/KITAP holders, family visit, study, retirement, business, or official visa holders.
- Those with retirement, business, or official visas are exempt if they register on the "Love Bali" website at least 5 days before arrival and obtain approval. If unable to pay online, payment can be made upon arrival at Bali, though this may cause delays due to expected congestion. Advance payment is encouraged.
✅ Visa on Arrival (VoA) & Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VoA):
The Visa on Arrival (VoA) allows entry for tourism, business meetings (within hotels), purchasing goods, and transit in Indonesia. It is only available for non-profit purposes.

Visa on Arrival (VoA)
- Eligibility: Available for holders of diplomatic, service, or regular passports.
- Maximum stay: 30 days
- Requirements:
- Passport with at least 6 months validity
- Return or onward flight ticket
- Passport photo (for e-VoA applications)
- Fee: 500,000 IDR or approx. USD 35
- Application method: Can be obtained upon arrival at the airport.
Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VoA)
- Maximum stay: 30 days
- Requirements:
- Passport with at least 6 months validity
- Return or onward flight ticket
- Valid email address (for e-VoA application)
- Passport photo
- Fee: 500,000 IDR or approx. USD 35
- Application method: Apply online at the e-VoA application site.
Note: The e-VoA is valid for 90 days from the issuance date, and entry must occur within this period. The e-VoA allows entry through 16 airports, including Bali Ngurah Rai Airport. Departure can be through a different airport. When calculating the stay period, the day of arrival and departure are both counted.
Important Notes:
- Electronic Customs Declaration (ECD) is mandatory for all arrivals starting 2 days prior to entry. After scanning the customs QR code at the airport, show it at customs to proceed.
- Visa Extension: It is recommended to apply for an extension about 1-2 weeks before the expiry of your stay. If overstayed without prior approval, a fine of 1,000,000 IDR per day may be imposed.
✅ Business Visas (Including Work, Religious, Cultural, etc.):
For work, labor activities, public performances, religious activities, and long-term stays, appropriate visas (work visa, cultural visa, etc.) must be obtained prior to arrival.

✅ Travel Tips and Warnings:
- Airlines may check the passport validity before departure. If traveling via a third country, entry into Indonesia could be allowed without issues; however, immigration may refuse entry at the airport if the passport is deemed invalid. In such cases, high fines or bribes could be demanded by local authorities. Business travelers with full visa pages may also face entry refusal if there is no space for visa stamps.
- Travelers must have proof of a return flight to their home country or onward travel.
- Required vaccinations: No vaccination certificates are required for entry into Indonesia, except for travelers who have recently passed through cholera-infected areas. Proof of vaccination will be required in such cases.
- Customs declaration: If carrying high-value items (e.g., electronics, plants, or animals), declare them. Duty-free items include 1 liter of alcohol, 200 cigarettes, or 20 cigars. The maximum amount of Indonesian currency you can take out is 100 million IDR.
