    The difference before and after participating is that I have experienced a few things and, like I wrote earlier, I can now attribute meaning to past events as learning experiences.

    # I hope to naturally use conversational English while learning something.

     

     

    Hello. I am a 27-year-old man working as a trainer.

     

    I didn’t like the pressure of having the premise that I came to study if I went to study abroad, so I applied with the thought that it would be nice to learn something while naturally using conversational English in an English-speaking country. Through this gap year, I aim to

     

    1. Expose myself to an English-speaking environment

    2. Interact with foreigners

    3. Learn yoga

    4. Live an independent and self-directed life.

    .

     

    I set out with a goal.

     

    * For Jinyoung Park, who had a strong desire to change, personalized 1:1 missions for expression and self-reflection were provided daily, along with a gap year notebook to reflect on himself and plan.

     

     

     

    # What taught me more than the yoga education program was their purity and kindness.

     

     

    A typical day in India started with dance and breathing, followed by tea time yoga, breakfast, theoretical and practical training as an educator, lunch, Ayurveda yoga philosophy, anatomy yoga, dinner, and mantra sleep. At the start of class, everyone would chant "Om," which helped to calm down and focus.

     

    The memorable people included Kevin, the artist boyfriend who came with Daniella to learn yoga, and cousin JJ, who made a mini performance and a video of their month-long life together. I became closest to them, along with Pragati, an Indian woman, Dona from the U.S., and Alessandro from Brazil, and we made plans to visit them where they live.

    What taught me more than the yoga education program was their purity and kindness.

     

    # I learned that everything depends on how you think and what you decide.

     

     

    The foreigners I met were really good at finding people's strengths and giving compliments.

    Being with them gave me a lot of positive energy, and it made me reflect on the relationships I had in Korea. I also learned that everything depends on how you think and what you decide.

    After having such diverse experiences, I realized that overcoming fear leads to either success or failure, both of which improve us. However, I believe these feelings can only be felt after overcoming fear.

    As the conditions of life change, fear will continue to come for me, but what cannot break me only makes me stronger. Whether it's the fear before I go or the fear that arises upon arrival, if I have the spirit to challenge, I need to act quickly. It must be fast enough to destroy everything within me aside from my intention.

    The difference between before and after participating is that I’ve gone through some experiences that allow me to assign meaning of learning to past events, just like the writing above.

     

     

     

    # My Gap Year Tips

     

     

    - Language

    Diving into an environment where there is a thirst for language was the most natural and practical way to learn. I think of it as a self-nudge effect.

     

    - Accommodation

    Bed sheets and blankets can be exchanged. Finding and operating things like lights, fans, water heaters, and outlets may be difficult at first, but you'll adapt quickly over time. I recommend mosquito spray.

     

    - Meals

    Due to regional characteristics, there isn't much meat available. Eating the same things repeatedly can get boring. However, it makes you reflect on the foods you once ate thoughtlessly and allows you to return to Korea with a grateful heart.

     

    - Supplies

     

    It's good to bring mosquito spray.
