    Project Introduction

    Project Introduction

Living as an Eco-Activist in the Romantic Port City of Mokpo.

In today's world, eco-friendly initiatives are no longer optional but essential. Climate change, animal protection, sustainable resources, and upcycling are issues of global concern that directly impact our lives.

Many of you are likely already taking small steps to contribute to environmental sustainability. Common practices include using reusable shopping bags to reduce plastic usage, carrying tumblers, using multi-use containers, and participating in plogging activities.

These are not just individual actions; many people around you are also engaged in these eco-friendly practices. Imagine the impact if we collectively carry out these small, individual actions. Just as many tiny drops can form a mighty ocean, our collective efforts can lead to significant change.

Let's start meaningful work for the planet with like-minded youths!

Become an Activist Saving the Earth by Collecting Ocean Waste

We will be picking up ocean waste and transforming it into various lifestyle products.

This isn't just about collecting trash on the beach; we will sort reusable waste and plan how to turn it into new products.

The activities also include marketing to ensure these products reach consumers!

Moreover, a portion of the proceeds from sales will be used to fund further ocean clean-up activities, creating a sustainable cycle :)

While engaging in various environmental activities, consider exploring a career in the "Green Jobs" sector.

    What is a "Green Job"?

A green job can be understood in two ways. First, it refers to jobs that involve creating products and services that benefit the environment or natural resources. Second, it refers to jobs that use fewer resources and have more environmentally friendly production processes.

Three Reasons to Become an Eco-Activist in the Romantic Port City of Mokpo!!!

    First,

You can meet eco-activist friends from all over the country.

With like-minded peers, you can plan fun projects during activity hours, explore Mokpo’s best eateries, or visit beautiful cafes in your free time. On weekends, you can even travel to nearby islands for a delightful escape!

    Second,

It’s an opportunity to become an expert in the eco-friendly field.

Since this area is still relatively new, there aren’t many experts yet. Through these activities, you can gain diverse experiences and build knowledge in eco-friendliness, eventually becoming a specialist in this field.

Through these activities, you can gain diverse experiences and build knowledge in eco-friendliness, eventually becoming a specialist in this field.

    Third,

If you decide you want to work in the eco-friendly sector, these activities can lead to job opportunities.

What starts as a volunteer experience can turn into a career. You might get a chance to discuss employment with the participating organizations or find job opportunities with local eco-friendly companies :)

    Project activities

    Project Activities

This project involves spending a month in Mokpo, working with a social enterprise that uses discarded fishing nets from the Mokpo sea to create everyday items. If you are interested in eco-friendliness, this is a great opportunity to gain experience in planning, production, and marketing.

    Main Activities

    • Project Planning and Management: You will have the chance to plan and execute various environmental projects such as plogging volunteer activities, eco-friendly soap-making classes, and environmental photo exhibitions. These projects aim to raise awareness and encourage more people to participate. Bring your ideas to life and see them in action!

    • Product Planning and Production: You will brainstorm and plan products that can be made from marine waste and are useful in daily life. By researching current trends and popular items, you can determine which products can be made with the available resources. If your ideas are feasible, you might even see the items you created being sold :)

    • Marketing: Help promote the various projects and products of the organization by taking photos, writing content, and managing social media channels. If you are familiar with or enjoy using social media, this will be a fun and engaging task for you!

*You will be assigned to a suitable field based on a preliminary interview, and activities may vary depending on the organization's needs. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to work in multiple areas rather than just one.

    Organization introduction

    Organization Introduction

Participants will join an organization that creates everyday items from recycled fishing nets collected from the sea in Mokpo.

The initiative began with the slogan "Small actions to save the sea, big changes" after seeing the vast amount of trash and birds dying from ingesting garbage in Mokpo's sea.

Initially, discarded nets near the coast were collected to create simple bags and pouches, marking the first project. Now, they not only recycle nets but also produce various products using diverse recycled materials.

Furthermore, a portion of the proceeds from product sales is used for cleaning activities along Mokpo's coast and streets.

The organization plans to continue developing new and popular products and services. If you are interested, be sure to apply for this program!
