What makes this project special


This project takes place in a small, peaceful town in the southern region of France. Through the participation and activities of many volunteers, the town has continuously preserved all buildings constructed in the medieval period and carried out restoration of cultural heritage.Because the project is run together with cultural heritage restoration experts, anyone can participate and learn the theories and techniques required for actual heritage preservation.
- The available participation period for this project isearly June to late September each year.
- The project runs five days a week, Monday through Saturday. (Check-in on Monday and check-out on Saturday morning)
- Generally in the morning, after breakfast,from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AMyou will participate in activities.

1. Cultural heritage cleaning
Activities to clean soiled cultural heritage and remove contaminants to preserve them. Participation in the processes required for cleaning cultural heritage.
2. Heritage building conservation treatment
Activities involving conservation treatment of stones to recreate stones similar to those used in the medieval period (the dried stones are used to fill collapsed parts of heritage structures or for repairs).Constructing brick walls and paving for heritage maintenance.Activities include building brick walls and paving parts of buildings that have collapsed over time or been damaged by travelers. * Each activity may change depending on the participant's timing and schedule, and detailed activity content, activity locations, and accommodation locations may change each year depending on the season and local conditions. * Because this project is run on a seasonal basis, participation spots fill up quickly. Those wishing to participate are advised to apply early.

This project is being carried outby the organizationIt has been carrying out restoration projects to protect the cultural heritage of the French village since 1969It has done so. Together with volunteers who have participated for many years, it has preserved the town's cultural heritage.
Also, through its long experience in cultural heritage preservation activities,It established an international center for heritage preservation and, together with associations from Mediterranean countries, works to preserve cultural heritage.Each year, more than 200 volunteers of various ages participate to preserve the cultural heritage of the small French town.
It shares preservation activities with volunteers from various countries, exchanges traditional technical knowledge, and does its best to enable participants of all ages and nationalities to work together as a team to preserve a heritage site while enjoying their time.

A house built on a hill in a village that has preserved medieval-era buildings.You will stay there.
The accommodation has rooms for 2-3 people and two bathrooms. You will stay with other volunteers participating in the program.During the activity period, meals are provided for volunteers so you can dine with fellow participants. Meals are prepared together by the volunteers under the guidance of local staff. The accommodation has a common area where volunteers can socialize, read books, or relax on a sunlit terrace.The town where the accommodation is located is a small, quiet village.About 10 minutes from the accommodation, there are restaurants and bars where you can enjoy French cuisine, a pharmacy, and other conveniences.

The area where this project takes place is a small village in the south of France. It is located between the major southern French cities Nîmes and Avignon.It is a hilltop town covered with wide, green vineyards like a wilderness, which has preserved its medieval appearance.You can see the beauty of the town's buildings as if time has stopped in the Middle Ages.You can feel the leisurely pace of a rural village, different from a busy city, and experience the lives of friendly villagers up close.
