    About the Provider

    INSTITUTION INTRODUCTION

Established in 1999, the Southern Atlantic Whale Observation Site was the world's first to be built for observing a large number of whales up close.

This organization not only offers beautiful views to tourists and local residents but also focuses on creating an environment where people can coexist with nature. Additionally, it engages in activities to protect marine animals and maintain their habitats and surrounding environments. The observation site is located 21 meters above sea level and is surrounded by the beaches of Las Canteras and El Doradillo. Come and experience the truly special and beautiful views firsthand!

    Accommodation

    ACCOMMODATION INTRODUCTION

This project includes homestay accommodations. The homestay involves staying with a local family in Puerto Madryn, and we connect you with carefully selected homestay families by local agencies. Staying with a local family also ensures a much safer experience in South America.

Homestays offer the advantage of learning about Argentine culture and communicating with the host family in Spanish, allowing for a deeper understanding of both culture and language. This is a preferred accommodation type for many volunteers and travelers. Breakfast is provided from Monday to Saturday, but since there is no separate kitchen, other meals can be freely enjoyed at nearby restaurants.

    2-person room / Shared bathroom / Breakfast provided (Mon-Sat)

    Location Overview

    LOCATION INTRODUCTION

    Location  :   Argentina, Puerto Madryn

The southern whale watching point is located near Puerto Madryn and offers the chance to observe numerous whale pods.

Puerto Madryn, a beautiful area with the Atlantic Ocean stretching out in front of you. The Golfo Nuevo surrounding Puerto Madryn has calm waters, making it a breeding ground and nursery for many southern right whales. Puerto Madryn is 1329 km from Buenos Aires, Argentina's capital, and takes about 16 hours by car. Summer in Puerto Madryn is very hot, but the weather in spring and autumn is fresh. Also, there is a significant temperature difference between day and night, so be mindful of your clothing.

    ■ Travel Destination Introduction

    1. El Doradillo Beach
El Doradillo Beach is about a 30-minute drive from Puerto Madryn. It is one of the best spots to see whales from the beach. Thanks to its excellent location, it attracts not only right whales but also seals, sea lions, and various marine animals that come here to give birth and care for their young. You can see all these processes up close. Experience marine animals, which you could only see in documentaries like National Geographic, up close! It will undoubtedly be one of the most exciting experiences.

    2. Punta Tombo

This place is a habitat for an incredibly large number of penguins, with thousands gathering from October to March. Tourists flock here to see these penguins, which are hard to find in Korea. You can observe their various behaviors, such as digging holes in the ground, coming out of the burrows, and heading to the water to feed.

Experience Punta Tombo, the penguin paradise with its fragrant sea breeze, and visit the world's largest penguin habitat!

    3. Lobo Larsen

At Lobo Larsen, you can enjoy snorkeling in the sea with sea lions, offering a unique experience. Under the guidance of the staff, participants can safely snorkel and move to areas where sea lions gather, allowing for an immersive swimming experience surrounded by sea lions.

Enjoy snorkeling in Argentina's pristine natural beaches! Just imagining it brings beauty and coolness. The opportunity to play with sea lions is a special bonus just for you!
