PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

PROJECT INTRODUCTION

Is English your lifelong challenge you thought you'd leave behind after becoming a professional? If your mediocre English skills are still holding you back at work, and you freeze up when receiving calls in English or get nervous during meetings with foreign partners, this project is for you!

This project is a language study program designed to enhance practical conversation skills, taking place in the beautiful resort city of Cebu, Philippines. Improve your speaking skills with one-on-one lessons and enjoy your free time after classes by eating, playing, and having fun!

※ This project is designed to be easily accessible for working professionals who wish to take a language study or academic leave. Those interested in taking a gap year through academic leave can also apply. (*Upon completion of the language course, a certificate from a university-affiliated language institution will be provided.) Public officials and employees of private companies who can take a gap year through academic leave (study leave) systems should pay attention to this project!

 1. Strict nationality ratio! The language school in the Philippines with the most diverse international students.

What if you invest time and money to study English abroad, only to find yourself surrounded by Koreans? With this project, you can forget about such worries! You will study with friends from various countries such as Japan, Taiwan, China, Vietnam, and Russia, and the proportion of Koreans is strictly limited to under 30%, making it much lower than other institutions.

Our organizers have personally visited and vetted the language schools in the Philippines, ensuring 100% reliability! Notably, the language school is officially certified by the Cebu Tourism Office! Live with foreign roommates and friends, and quickly enhance your English skills while enjoying your time in the Philippines!

 2. A 1:1 intensive class format with a curriculum designed to rapidly improve English skills in a short period.

Worried that you only know the alphabet and can't communicate in English at all? Don't worry anymore! With our level test, you’ll be placed into a curriculum that best suits your needs, and through one-on-one lessons with teachers, you'll receive thorough individual attention. You'll experience the miracle of improving your English skills almost effortlessly.

Unlike other regions, the language study program in the Philippines focuses primarily on one-on-one conversation classes, making it perfect for Koreans who are strong in vocabulary, grammar, and reading but weak in speaking. Take this opportunity to relieve your English stress and enjoy learning English in a fun way!

** Even an adult male who only knew the alphabet was able to have casual conversations with foreign friends after 12 weeks in this Philippine language program. (Results may vary)

3. Enjoy a range of activities, including overseas volunteer work, city tours, anniversary parties, and even free hopping tours!!

The language school offers a range of activities to help participants adapt quickly and gain diverse experiences. From volunteer work to swimming with whale sharks on an Oslob tour, and various parties where you can mingle with international friends. Study hard during the weekdays and choose your favorite activities from a variety of options on the weekends!

* Free island-hopping tour is provided for participants staying for 8 weeks or more.

 4. Only learning English during your language study? NO WAY! Discover your dreams alongside various gap year missions!

The biggest difference of our gap year language program is that it's not just about learning English, but also about reflecting on yourself and making personal changes. Each participant receives a personalized gap year mission and gap year notebook, each available for just 100 won, and various educational contents are continuously provided throughout the project!

The most frequently mentioned advantage of participating in our Cebu language study project is the "enhancement of confidence and self-esteem." Improve your English skills while also achieving personal growth with this unique project, only available through Korea Gap Year. :)

The gap year planner went there personally! Get the planner’s authentic visit story and the true intent behind the planning.

This project is specifically designed for working professionals to take a gap year through academic leave or language study leave.

Living as a working professional can be tough:( You’re busy with work, need to focus on self-development, and often find yourself regretting not having studied English sooner when meeting with foreign partners. Now, stop hesitating and solve both your vacation and study needs!

The biggest advantage of the Philippine language school is its one-on-one conversation classes, which can significantly improve your English skills. By actively participating in classes, you'll gain confidence in English without even realizing it. With affordable living costs and plenty of activities, those wanting to learn English quickly and enjoyably in Cebu should apply right now!

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

PROJECT ACTIVITIES

Improve your English skills through 1:1 focused lessons!

The biggest feature of language schools in the Philippines is that  1:1 lessons are emphasized compared to other countries. In places like the USA, UK, Canada, and Australia, 1:1 lessons are practically impossible. Even if you pay more than four times the cost compared to the Philippines, you will still have to settle for group classes with at least 15 participants. If you want to improve your English skills in a short period, it is recommended to start studying in the Philippines.

It’s the perfect opportunity for students who are starting English for the first time or want to learn from the basics!

■ Project Details

This project allows you to choose between two types of language study programs tailored to your personal study style.

A Type      A flexible type that seeks a balance between study and leisure time

Type A has fewer 1:1 lesson hours compared to Type B and is composed of various special classes such as storytelling, pronunciation, and learning English through music, making it a fun and effective way to learn English. Additionally, you have the flexibility to go out in the evenings after your classes, allowing for a more relaxed English learning experience. For those taking a gap year through study leave, we recommend Type A for a well-balanced mix of study and leisure time.

Basic Structure: 1:1 Lessons (4 Lessons) + Special Lessons (4 Lessons) + 1:4 Small Group Lessons (2 Lessons)

Recommended participants

Recommended for those who are free-spirited and outgoing!

Being outgoing and enjoying interacting with new people is a big advantage in language learning. If you find it hard to stay seated and study, try this course to learn English while spending free time playing and enjoying with various foreign friends!

Type B includes six 1:1 lessons per day, providing more personalized instruction compared to Type A.

Particularly, additional 1:1 lessons beyond the basic 4 hours of 1:1 lessons are tailored to address the participant's weak areas, allowing for a faster improvement in English conversation skills.

Basic Structure: 1:1 Lessons (4 Lessons) + Special Lessons (2 Lessons) + 1:4 Small Group Lessons (2 Lessons) + Customized 1:1 Additional Lessons (2 Lessons)

Recommended participants

For those who want to improve their conversation skills quickly and participate in various activities

1:1 lessons involve continuous conversation with the teacher, allowing for much more speaking practice compared to group classes. Additionally, any questions or corrections can be addressed immediately, greatly aiding in the rapid improvement of conversation skills. If you want to focus intensely on English in a short time or are more introverted, we recommend choosing Type B!

* Activity Examples

  ■  English Proficiency ☆☆☆☆☆

- One of the advantages of studying English in the Philippines is that you can build a solid foundation from the basics! You can participate even if you have no English skills!

- Since there is a Korean staff member, you can also communicate in Korean if you encounter any difficulties!

■ Physical Fitness ★☆☆☆☆

- Since the weather is warm year-round, you only need the stamina to endure the heat! Most buildings have air conditioning, so there's no need to worry too much!

Experience Language Study in 2 Countries

Language study in multiple countries means studying a language in one or more countries, and it is a preferred option for those looking to maximize the effect while minimizing costs and duration. Generally, students complete a short-term language course in a relatively inexpensive country like the Philippines and then move to an English-speaking country such as the USA, Canada, Australia, or the UK to experience the culture and enhance their advanced English skills. By doing a language study program in two countries, you can enjoy high value for money and experience diverse cultures and lifestyles!

* For those participating in language study through a sabbatical program, it is recommended to spend at least 12 weeks in each country, as they typically participate for a minimum of 6 months.

(Example: 12 weeks in Cebu, Philippines, followed by 12 weeks in London, UK)

Language study tips for learning English!

Which country is the best place to study?

The improvement in your English skills can vary depending on how well the teaching methods, surroundings, and local culture fit your needs.

Check out the features of language programs in each country :)

UK - Learn Authentic British English with European Friends at a Relatively Affordable Price!

Excellent educational environment and systematic English teaching! Recommended for those who want to learn authentic English in its homeland. The ratio of Korean students is very low, with most students coming from Europe and South America, so you can study English while traveling around Europe and making friends from Europe. Language study in London is quite popular due to its relative affordability. However, note that from June to September, which is peak season (European vacation period), European students can fill up classrooms, sometimes exceeding 20 students per class, so keep this in mind when applying!

Philippines - 1-on-1 English Education, Build a Strong Foundation from the Basics!

The biggest attraction is the low cost of education and living! With mostly 1-on-1 classes and a well-structured schedule, you can study English according to your level. Therefore, it is recommended for those who want to build a strong foundation in English from the basics! Moreover, as a vacation spot, it’s also great for exploring. You can study in clean and well-maintained facilities and stay safely under strict management by the language school. The proportion of Korean students is strictly limited, and you can meet friends from various nationalities like Japan and Taiwan.

Apply Practical English Skills through Various Projects

Instead of returning to everyday life right after language study, participating in projects where English is essential afterwards provides significant motivation and development. Most gap year projects are conducted with diverse participants from around the world, allowing you to improve your conversational skills naturally while living with friends from different countries. Participate in various post-language study projects such as internships, volunteer work, travel, and education to gain motivation during your language study and apply the conversational skills you've honed in real-life situations!

* Participation in linked projects is optional; for more details, please contact Korea Gap Year (koreagapyear@gmail.com).
