PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

Project Introduction

Imagine the thrill of playing with colorful tropical fish in the blue sea. It’s exhilarating just to think about it, right? Join a romantic vacation in Bali with like-minded divers from around the world, as featured on CNN, and help conserve marine ecosystems. From planting coral reefs to surveying fish species and cleaning up underwater debris, the stunning emerald waters will be nurtured through your efforts. Take the lead in revitalizing the endangered coral reefs on a peaceful island in northern Bali with local residents!

* This project is open to individuals, groups, and families.

1. Enjoy a cost-effective vacation! Get scuba certified, volunteer, and find healing!

If you’ve been bogged down by studies or work and are looking for something special and different for your precious vacation, this is for you! Even if you don’t have a scuba certification or aren’t a strong swimmer, you can earn your scuba certification with internationally recognized experts and discover a new underwater world. Additionally, help make Bali more beautiful with just your small contributions, bringing happiness to the locals! * The project is suitable for teenagers with experienced local guides.

2. Enjoy traveling as a local, not just a tourist! Plus, make friends from around the world!

This project includes marine volunteering, village English education, and personal vacation time. One of its greatest advantages is that you can actively participate in village community activities as part of the community, not just as a tourist or volunteer. Create a second home and family in Bali with other volunteers from around the world, instead of a superficial visit to famous landmarks.

3. Swim in the sea during the day, and find true freedom with vibrant clubbing at night!

Feel the fish gently nibbling at your skin and the seaweed swaying with the waves… This is a unique experience only available to scuba divers and snorkelers. Swim in the sea under the warm sun during the day and finish your day enjoying the sunset over the ocean from a pub or club on a cliff in the evening. Find relaxation, self-reflection, and true freedom in Bali, the earthly paradise.

Project Planner's Visit Story & Planning Intent

While staying in Australia for project development, we learned that locals often travel to Bali during their free time. Curious about why Australians would choose Bali over the beautiful Australian landscapes, we decided to visit Bali ourselves. Being there, we were captivated by Bali's unique relaxation and the genuine nature of its people. We were determined to develop a project in Bali and explored the most famous places on the island. We discovered this spot!! It turns out that this organization is so renowned that even CNN, a major American broadcaster, has covered it. People from all over the world, not just Australians, participate in this project to enjoy both fun and vacation. The participants seemed truly relaxed and happy, which was evident in their expressions and actions. We hoped that Korean youth, who often live a busy and rushed life, could also find relaxation and happiness through this project, and this desire led us to plan it.

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

Project Activities

1. Obtaining a Scuba Diving Certification
: Scuba Diving in Bali  " "Open Water" Certification  Get certified!

Participants without a scuba diving certification will obtain an Open Water Scuba Diving Certification before participating in volunteer activities. The certification is provided by SSI, an international professional scuba diving training organization, and involves systematic diving training under the guidance of experts. With this certification, you can enjoy recreational diving up to 18 meters worldwide.

Scuba diving can be obtained by people who cannot swim at all. Since divers wear equipment and stay underwater for long periods, anyone without claustrophobia can participate. Scuba diving is generally divided into Open Water, Advanced, and Diver courses, among other various certifications.
*The Open Water Certification course requires a minimum of 3 participants. For individuals, please inquire separately.

[Job Recommendation] Scuba Diving Instructor

With advancements in technology, scuba diving equipment has rapidly modernized and become safer, solidifying scuba diving as a global recreational sport. As more people are drawn to it, the interest in leisure sports, especially scuba diving, is increasing. In Korea, surrounded by the sea on three sides, the importance of leisure is growing, leading to a surge in interest in recreational sports. Scuba diving, in particular, is a field with increasing participation as it allows people to experience the beautiful underwater world firsthand.

Scuba diving instructors can work as freelancers or be employed at resorts or dive shops. Instead of striving to become an instructor from the start, it's recommended to first enjoy scuba diving and see if this field suits you. Although scuba diving has been slower to develop in Korea due to perceptions of it being a high-end sport, it has significant future potential. With scuba diving already established as a popular sport worldwide and the number of enthusiasts in Korea increasing rapidly, the potential for growth is promising.

2. Marine Conservation Volunteer Work
: Revive the Ocean with Corals in Crisis!
Did you know that 'coral reefs' account for about 0.1% of the world's oceans, but they are home to a quarter of all known marine species? Corals protect marine habitats and create nurseries for various marine life. Your important role is to manage coral reefs and cultivate a cleaner and more beautiful marine ecosystem.

Imagine the ocean coming back to life with the corals you planted!
To create a haven for various marine species, coral reefs need to be restored. During the first session, you will learn about natural and artificial reefs, which are crucial to coral restoration, and how to plant corals. With the knowledge you've gained, you'll dive into the ocean, collect corals, and manually prepare them on land before evenly planting them back into the sea.
You will also survey the surrounding ecosystem and care for sea turtles. Since the village is home to many large and small sea turtles, special housing structures need to be built to ensure their well-being. Help create new homes for these turtles across the ocean.

* The above photo is an activity photo of an actual participant.

Let's see the future of the world's oceans with the data I have collected!
The information and data about the ocean that we need to preserve in the future are very important, and only scuba divers and snorkelers can perform this task. By analyzing data collected over several years, we can understand changes in marine ecosystems and identify which species are thriving and which need more protection. You will dive into the ocean, count fish, and observe the characteristics of the fish you have studied to create your own data. Investigate responsibly to help create a beautiful ocean in Bali, a world-class tourist destination and an important habitat for marine life. Your name will be recorded alongside the data collected over the years, becoming a valuable resource for the future.

Distribute Bali's tropical fish throughout the community!
Bali is home to many colorful and unique fish. Beautiful fish are sent to useful institutions so that many local residents and tourists can see them. Divers play a key role in catching and classifying the fish. Classified fish are stored in the local community or donated to aquariums. Help send the beautiful fish you catch to places that benefit the Bali community.

3. Village English Education and Promotion Activities
: Become an English teacher and village ambassador in Bali!
Many friends in the village where you live want to learn English but cannot afford it due to their family circumstances. While living in the village, share your knowledge with the children and other residents. You can teach English to students as well as fishermen and housewives.
Think about ways to promote the still unfamiliar activities of scuba diving and snorkeling. Participants will create marketing materials in their native language and design them with their own impressions. Finding hidden tourist attractions for new visitors or sharing your photos and articles on websites and Facebook are also good methods.

4. Personal Leisure Time
: Explore the healing spaces around the village!
Bali is well-known for its natural resorts, with 'healing spaces' hidden throughout the village. Enjoy popular spots like jungle trekking with beautiful waterfalls and fresh air. Visit a temple by the beautiful Bedugul Lake for some self-reflection.
There are also places in the village where you can enjoy wreck diving. Go out to catch various seafood with the friendly fishermen and divers you have spent time with!

* Be sure to bring your USB to keep the videos and photos taken during snorkeling and scuba diving volunteer activities.

  English Proficiency Required   ☆☆ ☆☆

 - Since the main activities involve marine volunteer work underwater, basic communication skills are sufficient to participate in the project.

 - Those interested in village English education and promotion activities will need basic communication skills as well as simple writing and reading abilities.

PROGRAM PROVIDER INTRODUCTION

Institution Introduction

The organization running this project is a non-profit based in Australia, established in 2010. They conduct various marine volunteer activities through scuba diving and snorkeling in different countries. Dedicated village leaders and Indonesia's first PADI* Course Director, who is currently serving as an SSI* Advisory Board Member work hard to protect marine ecosystems and nature, and to educate local fishermen and students.

This organization balances non-profit experience with the village and diving industry, supporting the development of the community. They also cooperate with renowned Indonesian companies providing technical support to develop sustainable communities, and with a fishermen’s community experienced in ornamental fish conservation and coral restoration for over ten years.

Snorkeling and scuba diving are not just recreational activities; they offer the chance to revive the village and conserve marine ecosystems. This appeal is well-known globally, and many volunteers who enjoy scuba diving and snorkeling visit Bali to participate in this project, making it a place full of vitality.

* PADI and SSI are professional scuba diving training organizations.
