PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

Project Introduction

Empower the children of Bangkok with dreams and hope!

Children are the hope and protagonists of the future. Yet, in some parts of Thailand, many children are forced onto the streets at a young age to support themselves, missing out on education. Please use your warmth and talents to reignite hope and dreams in these children! Through the act of giving, you will discover a truer version of yourself, growing stronger and more resilient.

A special reason why you should choose this project!

1. A project verified firsthand by the planner, trustworthy!
The Gap Year Planner personally visits Thailand, reviewing about 200 checklists across various regions. Only projects that have a potential educational impact on participants and can bring life-changing experiences are selected. They meet with representatives of organizations, hear their visions, stay in local accommodations, interact with volunteers from other countries, and participate in project activities firsthand before forming partnerships. Moreover, the planner regularly visits Thailand to ensure the projects are well-operated.

2. A place where you can receive a lifetime's worth of love all at once! Enhancing self-esteem and confidence
Take the time to experience receiving great love from children as you spend time with them! According to participant reviews, "Every day after class, the children come running, giving high-fives and hugs. I felt so grateful to them to the point where I wondered if I could accept such love." By receiving this love every day, your self-esteem and confidence will greatly improve. With enhanced self-esteem and confidence, you'll find yourself less concerned about others' opinions and less likely to give up on things you've wanted to do. Let's confidently live our lives to the fullest!

3. Just looking at the photos, aren't the children so adorable? Wouldn't you want to meet these children?
Just by looking at the photos, aren't the children's smiles so lovely? When I went and met these children, they were truly bright and beautiful; I couldn't take my eyes off them. Even just their smiles were captivating, but watching them come up, waving their hands, and circling to greet and talk, I was determined to come back here to volunteer again. It's a place where you can meet the kindest and purest children in an untouched world. You should visit right away!

PROGRAM PROVIDER INTRODUCTION

Institution Introduction

In 1973, in the impoverished slums of Bangkok, people couldn't respond to the everyday greeting "How are you?"
What was even more heartbreaking was that people in these impoverished slums accepted this poverty as a matter of course. To enlighten them and help them break free from the cycle of poverty, a small school was established, where they began teaching "I'm fine thank you, and you?" Located approximately 20 minutes from Bangkok's Sukhumvit area, the organization began with early childhood education for children and has since expanded to provide healthcare services and medical support for residents. Additionally, they conduct small-scale microloan programs to help empower impoverished community members toward self-reliance.

ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation Introduction

* Participants can choose accommodations in the project location according to their preferences and budget.
* For participants experiencing difficulties in finding accommodations, Korean Gap Year can recommend guesthouses/hotels near the project site. (Refer to the features of each type of accommodation below)

Homestay
Staying in a local family's home in a foreign country where students are studying abroad allows participants to learn about the country's culture and language. Living with a family provides opportunities to improve language skills through communication, and gain insight into the lifestyle, values, and cultural practices of the people in that country.

Guesthouse
A guesthouse is an accommodation where facilities such as the kitchen, bathroom, and shower are shared among guests. Rooms typically accommodate 4-person to 6-8-person dormitories, allowing multiple friends to stay together in one room. When traveling to different countries for short trips, staying in a guesthouse enables travelers to meet and interact with diverse individuals, sharing stories and travel tips.

PROGRAM LOCATION INTRODUCTION

Location

ㅣ Location  :   Thailand, Bangkok

Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, is known as the "City of Angels," boasting skyscrapers including an 85-story tower standing 309 meters tall, alongside ancient temples and palaces that have stood for centuries. It is a beautiful city where modern high-rises coexist harmoniously with historic landmarks. Bangkok, where modernity and the past coexist, creates a charming atmosphere that attracts backpackers from around the globe. It is the most popular destination where numerous tourists flock to witness the contrast between the glamorous cityscape sought by many and the stark reality of poverty and hunger endured by hundreds of thousands. Bangkok is where your warm helping hand is needed to alleviate the world's pain.

Target Participants

- Those who can communicate in basic English.

- Anyone aged 19 and above.

- Individuals with a keen interest in NGOs.

- Anyone willing to share their talents for the benefit of others and seek warm experiences.

- Individuals with volunteer experience in their supported field.

When I first arrived at this institution, unlike the quiet and spacious settings typical of most organizations where I expected cute children playing around, I was surprised to find it nestled between other buildings in downtown Bangkok. It made me wonder if this place was indeed the volunteer center I was looking for. However, upon entering the building, I was pleasantly surprised by the cozy gardens and classrooms filled with children's laughter. I was taken aback by how warmly the children greeted new volunteers, smiling brightly and eagerly waving their hands. Seeing them, I felt that if I stayed and worked with these children, I would receive a lifetime's love.

I recommend it to those tired of formal relationships as they age, those who feel they haven't received warm love from parents or friends since childhood, those who want to change their increasingly rough selves, and everyone who wants to rediscover their pure childhood self.
