PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

This is a project to study English and get job training for a working holiday in Sydney, Australia's largest city. If you want to have a successful working holiday, start this project right away!

►1. English Proficiency & International friends & Adaptation. Successfully solved all at once!

If you think that if you just go on a working holiday, “I can learn English and make foreign friends,” you are sorely mistaken! In fact, if you don't study English, you will only continue to use basic words and sentences, and your skills will not improve. If you start off with solid preparations for your working holiday, you can gain everything - English, foreign friends, a job, and money - but the reality is that if you leave without proper preparation, you will not be able to gain anything.

So, I hope you can have a successful working holiday!! In particular, apart from regular classes, various optional classes such as conversation and pronunciation are provided free of charge in the afternoon, and the institution was selected and planned as an institution with many opportunities to make friends through various events so that you can effectively improve your English skills in a short period of time  . If your English skills are backed up and you have friends in Australia with whom you can share information, you will be able to easily do the basics of initial adaptation to Australia and have a fun working holiday.

►2. 100% Supported Job Search! 4 star or higher Hotels, Cafe or at Farms

The biggest advantage of this project is that it provides vocational training that makes it 100% possible to find a job while learning English! Not only does it connect you with jobs so you can get a job where you can be guaranteed the minimum wage, but you can also improve your job search skills in English by reviewing your English resume and practicing English interviews every Friday.

So, during a one-year working holiday period , you can save up to 20 million won even after covering all expenses in Australia, including airline tickets, project costs, job placement fees, accommodation costs, and transportation costs . No more having to work hard every day to find a job in an unfamiliar land where your resume is rejected and you never know when it will be available! Get introduced to a job quickly and safely and save money step by step!

(*The maximum amount you can collect may vary depending on personal spending history, work ability, job position, etc.)

►3. Sydney, the City of Opportunity! with the World's Highest Minimum Wage

Sydney is Australia's largest city and therefore home to the greatest number of opportunities. Therefore, there are many various service jobs and finding a job is easier than in other places. Moreover, Australia has the highest minimum wage in the world (about 15,000 won as of 2019) and the hourly wage is doubled on weekends and public holidays, so even if the minimum wage is properly guaranteed, you can save a lot of money. Therefore, it is more advantageous to find a job as quickly as possible and go to a place where safety is guaranteed.

Additionally, there are frequent flights and buses to major cities such as Melbourne and Brisbane, making it a great place to travel or move between cities, making it a starting point for a working holiday. Take advantage of the opportunity for a successful working holiday in Sydney, the capital of Australia! (The fact is that opportunities always come only to those who are prepared, so let’s prepare solidly with a gap year ^^)

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

PROJECT ACTIVITIES

This project is to study English and receive job training for a working holiday in the center of Sydney (near Sydney Central Station). If you found it cumbersome to prepare for a working holiday on your own, try this project to lay a solid foundation for your initial settlement!

LEARN ENGLISH (English Language School)

Learn basic conversation-oriented speaking , listening, writing, reading, grammar, and vocabulary  that can be used in topics and situations encountered in daily life .

It is divided into levels , and through an orientation on the first day , you can study at the level that suits you.

In addition to classes, various fun activities are held. We offer a variety of events, cultural classes and excursions including visits to attractions, tours around Sydney, walking tours, musicals, sports days and art gallery visits.

  * Additional costs may apply for some activities such as picnics. (about $50~$300)

You will take classes with an average of 12 students from various nationalities per class . (maximum 18 people)

*Students from various countries, including Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Brazil, Argentina, and other European countries, come to study English.

Students take an evaluation test once a month to determine their level of English improvement and receive 1:1 individual guidance based on the evaluation.

JOB (Job Training Service)

Job training is a service provided to support the initial settlement of working holidaymakers.

Generally, job training is held every week, and 1:1 job search counseling is held once week at your desired time . There is a Korean representative within the academy, so you can consult more conveniently.

* Job training days may change every month.

JOB TRAINING CONTENT

- Equip yourself with the basics of a working holiday: understanding complex Australian taxes, opening a bank, opening a phone, applying for a TFN, tips for finding accommodation, etc.

- Preparing for job search: writing and reviewing resume, preparing for English interview, preparing for certification, interview skills, etc.

- Finding a job: sharing information related to job search, job connection, etc.

** In general, we connect jobs such as farms, factories, hotels and resorts, cafes, and restaurants. Since the area where you can find a job and the specific job description may vary due to factors such as English proficiency and local job demand, we recommend that you receive local consultation when choosing a job.

Job-Specific Addtional Information (Job Training Service)

Hotels and Resorts:

You will work at 4-star or higher hotels and resorts throughout Australia. You will be responsible for tasks such as room cleaning, laundry, customer service, and cafeteria work. In order to apply for jobs in hotels and resorts, you must take English classes for at least 12 weeks, have intermediate or higher English proficiency, and pay an additional fee of $1,000 to 1,500 (Australian dollars) (paid locally). However, you must pay the minimum wage and minimum weekly wage. Because it guarantees more than 20 hours of work, the advantage is that you can earn more than the money you spent on language training and placement fees even if you only work for 6 months.

 Farms and Factories:

We link you to farms and factories across Australia. It's not difficult to find a job because it requires a lot of labor and requires only basic or intermediate English skills. The work is hard, but the advantage is that you can earn $500 (Australian dollars) per week on average. Searching for farm and factory jobs separately costs a lot of fees, but with this project, we link you for free! Additionally, if you work at a specific farm or factory for a certain period of time, you can apply for a second visa that allows you to stay in Australia for up to two years.

③  Cafes and Restaurants:

We connect you to cafes and restaurants in Sydney, and you can generally work with guaranteed minimum wage. Intermediate or higher level English skills are required at the time of job seeking, and if you need separate certifications such as barista, latte art, or wine, we will help you connect with certification courses so that you can acquire certifications while studying English, saving you time on job hunting.

* If you want a job at a farm/factory, cafe, or restaurant, you must apply for at least 8 weeks.

* If you want to work at a hotel or resort, you must apply for at least 12 weeks.

"I am very satisfied with the English I learned at school. I met very good teachers. I was able to make a lot of good memories at school with my classmates. I never let my new friends interact and talk to other friends at school."I really want to tell you not to be afraid! It really helps!"

Program Coordinator's GO -TO TIP

It’s OK to start without any preparation! Start your working holiday easily! This project was designed to ease the burden of working holidaymakers who are new to living abroad for a long period of time or who are afraid of starting working holidaymaking alone.

I'm having a hard time with complicated tax issues... and it takes 3 days just to open an account... The way to pay rent is also different from Korea... It's hard to adapt to a new country, but if you feel anxious because you can't find a job quickly and end up working in a place where you don't get the basic hourly wage... In order to prevent something like this from happening, it will be important to know how well you settle in during the first 1 to 3 months.

Therefore, this project was designed to help students adapt to life and settle down while studying English, as well as solve painful and cumbersome tasks such as vocational training and job-related services, opening bank accounts, and calculating taxes . We will support you so that you can start your working holiday in Australia comfortably!

* Detailed reviews from participants can be found at Gap Year Story (click) .

* More participant reviews can be found in “Participant Reviews” at the bottom of the project.
