PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

PROJECT INTRODUCTION

Experience the sea freely with local children in Cape Town, South Africa! Children growing up in underprivileged environments can heal their bodies and minds through surfing and gain an opportunity to dream bigger dreams. Support these children who are starting a new dream. You'll be accompanying them on their journey towards a future bigger and wider than the ocean.

Nelson Mandela once said that sport has the power to change the world. This project is committed to using the power of sport to make the world a better place for South African children living in tough environments.

In the ocean, one must learn to either resist or adapt to ever-changing forces. Children gain confidence, determination, and patience through their time spent in the sea. Moreover, as they see themselves not just as ordinary children, but as surfers, they feel a strong sense of solidarity and belonging. Surfing, in this way, becomes not just a sport, but a new force that transforms their lives.

Help more children move towards their future! Just by spending time with them and enjoying the sea, you can help them grow.

Q. Which children's dreams will you be supporting?

Children growing up in the deprived and underprivileged areas of Cape Town often do not have the hope of escaping their natural surroundings. The environment is filled with poverty, crime, drugs, and gangs, along with many other dangers, and it is difficult to receive a good quality education or find employment opportunities, making it challenging for them to dream about the future.

At the institution where this project is conducted, we provide surfing, proper education, and nutritious meals to children in such circumstances to help them grasp sustainable opportunities. Please join us in helping the children of Cape Town move towards a brighter future!

The small town of Muizenberg in Cape Town, where the project is held, has been selected as one of the Top 20 Best Surfing Spots in the World by National Geographic. It is known as one of the best beaches to learn surfing. The hot sun, cool sea, and good waves attract many surfers to Muizenberg's beach.

Start surfing at Muizenberg, where beginners can easily ride the waves! You can learn from professional instructors, and during your free time, you can run to the sea and improve your surfing skills. While teaching South African children and enjoying the vast ocean with them, you will find yourself letting go of all the worries that filled your heart and have time to recover.

Q. Why go to Cape Town for surfing?

The South African coast is a globally beloved surfing destination. Enjoying the beaches and waves of South Africa is on the bucket list of surfers worldwide.

Especially, Jeffreys Bay on the southern coast is a must-visit for surfers at least once in their lifetime, and Muizenberg, where the project takes place, is famous for its waves that are easy for beginners to catch. It is a popular surfing spot worldwide, making it a safer place even within South Africa.

Head to Muizenberg to enjoy the South African sea safely!

Start a one-month stay in Africa for a unique experience unlike anything you've ever had before! You'll live in a safe and comfortable environment, and naturally embrace Africa as a part of your life.

You can enjoy various water sports on the wide beach, as well as go on tours to explore the beauty of the Cape Peninsula with volunteers from around the world. You can fill your free time with different activities or add new learnings to your daily routine with additional surfing and yoga classes. Whatever you choose, every day spent in Cape Town will remain an unforgettable memory.

* This is a volunteer activity with limited spots available each month. Please apply quickly if you wish to participate!
