Under the hot sun, sweet oranges and grapes grow abundantly, and the beautiful beaches of Valencia sparkle in blue! Discover a project where you can learn Spanish in the rich and relaxed city of Spain.

 

In Valencia, you can take as many classes as you want and freely enjoy your leisure time. Explore every corner of the city and immediately use the Spanish you learned in class in real life, and experience Spanish culture that you can only find locally. By the end of the project, you'll find yourself confidently and joyfully interacting with Spanish speakers!

*You can participate in this project even if you don't know any Spanish. Start learning from scratch right at the source!

 

 

Spain, the warmest country in Europe, basks in the hot sun all year round. And just as intense as the sun, there is an overflow of passion and vitality. The people who live there also have passionate and generous hearts. You can quickly become friends with Spaniards by enjoying their warm greetings and conversations.

From Madrid and Barcelona to Malaga, Spain's famous cities attract countless travelers with their unique charms. Not only Valencia, but also take in the beautiful landscapes of every corner of Spain. Each city is located within a 1-hour flight from Valencia, making it easy to visit on weekends.

Study hard on weekdays and embark on exciting trips on weekends! You will not only create beautiful memories but also quickly improve your Spanish skills through practical use.

Thanks to the intense sun and the mild weather all year round, Spaniards always maintain a cheerful and vibrant demeanor. Greet and start conversations with the friendly Spaniards who will warmly welcome you when your eyes meet on the street. Using the same language is the best way to open each other's hearts. Even simple Spanish greetings and short conversations can help you share feelings and make friends. Classes at the Valencia Spanish language school are made up of at least 6 students and do not exceed 12 students. With small class sizes, teachers can focus more on each student and engage in more conversation. Students also participate freely in class, which can help them improve their skills while actively communicating with their peers.

PROJECT ACTIVITIES

 

This project offers a chance to learn Spanish and enjoy traveling in Valencia, Spain. You will learn Spanish systematically at a language school that has been teaching Spanish as a foreign language for over 30 years, and after classes, you can freely explore the city's beautiful tourist attractions.

 

 

Three course options are available. Please choose the option that best suits you to balance Spanish study and leisure time.

Option A Course for students who want to balance study and travel
Spanish lessons: 20 lessons per week
Recommended for those who want to quickly improve their language skills through 4 hours of lessons per day. As your language proficiency increases, you will experience Spanish culture more quickly and vividly. Gain confidence with fluent Spanish.

 

Option B
Course for job seekers who want to see significant improvement through enjoyable study
Spanish lessons: 20 lessons per week + Conversation/Culture lessons: 5 lessons per week
Recommended for those who want to quickly become comfortable with Spanish conversation. The additional 5 lessons per week involve interactive classes with the teacher. Experience rapid improvement in your Spanish skills as you work hard.

 

Option C
Course for global amigos who want to fully immerse themselves in Spain
Spanish lessons: 20 lessons per week + Conversation/Culture lessons: 5 lessons per week + Small group lessons: 5 lessons per week
Recommended for those who want to learn Spanish through a variety of lessons and gain extensive knowledge about the language and culture. This schedule allows you to focus on Spanish study as much as possible. The small group lessons, held 5 times a week, consist of 2-3 students.

  • The project starts every Monday.
  • The project runs throughout the year, and participants can choose their duration from 2 to 52 weeks.
  • Classes are 55 minutes long, with an average of 6 to 12 students per class.
  • The project focuses on real-life communication experiences in speaking and listening to Spanish.
  • On the first day of the project, Monday, there will be a level test and orientation. Participants will be placed in classes suitable for their proficiency level.
  • You can reach the language school from your accommodation by walking or using public transportation, with a travel time of up to 30 minutes depending on the location.
  • In addition to Spanish classes, you can participate in various activities such as city tours and dance classes. Note that there will be additional costs for these activities. More details will be provided locally.

City Tours Tours of Valencia's main attractions: historical center, Fallas Museum, Lonja de la Seda, Central Market, Cathedral, City Hall Square, etc.
Travel Tours of nearby cities: Albufera, City of Arts and Sciences, Peñíscola, Alicante, Sativa, etc.
Activities Dance classes - Flamenco / Latin Dance

 

English Not Required

  • This project does not require proficiency in English or Spanish. However, having basic communication skills in English may help you learn Spanish more effectively.

 

Spanish Not Required

  • No prior knowledge of Spanish is needed to participate! You can join the project even if you have never studied Spanish before. If you want to adapt more quickly, we recommend doing a brief review before departure.

Accommodation is an optional selection. Participants can choose from various accommodation options based on their lifestyle and preferences. Choose the accommodation that suits you best to enjoy your time in Spain even more!

 

■ Homestay

Single Room / Shared Bathroom / Wi-Fi / 2 Meals per Day (Breakfast/Dinner)

 

Homestays offer the opportunity to experience daily life in Spain firsthand and improve your language skills through interaction with locals. Most homestay families are located about 30 minutes from the school, and provide Wi-Fi and two meals a day (breakfast and dinner).

 

■ Apartment Share

Shared Room / Shared Bathroom / Wi-Fi / Basic Bedding / Common Area Cleaning Service

 

Apartment shares are ideal for students who want to enjoy their stay in Spain independently. Shared apartments are located within walking distance or a short public transport ride to the school, typically taking up to 30 minutes. Each apartment houses an average of 6 students.

Common areas such as a kitchen, laundry room, and living room are available. Cleaning service is provided once a week for common areas, while students are responsible for cleaning their own rooms and washing dishes.

 

■ Dormitory

Shared Room / Shared Bathroom / Wi-Fi / Welcome Kit / Basic Bedding and Towels / 1 Meal per Day (Breakfast) / Common Area Cleaning Service / 24-Hour Support

 

Student dormitories are best suited for students who value independence and flexibility. Located near the school, they are within walking distance and offer easy access to the city via a nearby bus stop.

Common areas including a living room, kitchen, and laundry room are available. Cleaning service is provided once a week for common areas, while students are responsible for cleaning their own rooms and washing dishes.

 

Common Accommodation Information

  • Accommodation check-in and check-out is generally on Sunday noon before the project starts and Saturday noon after the project ends.
  • Additional requests such as extra meals, private bathrooms, or single rooms are possible for an extra fee.
  • For dormitories, air conditioning is available upon request for an additional fee.
  • For homestays and apartment shares, personal towels must be brought by the participant.
  • Special dietary requests should be made in advance.

Located on the eastern coast of Spain, Valencia is a city where ancient and modern charm blend together. The city boasts ancient architecture alongside modern street art, fields full of fresh fruits and vegetables, and carriages that evoke a sense of nostalgia. The refreshing horchata and saffron-yellow paella delight travelers' palates. Experience the allure of Valencia, the City of Arts and Sciences!

 

Recommended Attractions

1. Las Fallas Festival

Held every March to celebrate Saint Joseph's Day, this festival in Valencia is known as Las Fallas in Spanish. "Fallas" not only refers to the fireworks but also to the large effigies that are the main feature of the festival. These effigies, made of wood, range from 10 to 30 meters in size! The effigies, displayed throughout the city, are burned on the final day of the festival, creating a spectacular sight. This is one of the best times to experience Valencia's vibrant spirit.

 

2. Valencia Cathedral

The Valencia Cathedral, completed over 200 years, stands as a testament to Valencia's architectural history. It features various styles including the Baroque iron gate, the Romanesque Almoyna gate, and the French Gothic Apostles gate, reflecting the passage of time in Valencia.

Notably, the cathedral houses what is believed to be the Holy Grail used at the Last Supper, so be sure to visit!

 

3. Oceanogràfic

The Oceanogràfic is Europe's largest aquarium. It features around 500 species of marine life, including dolphins, penguins, and sea lions. It's a cultural complex with various exhibits, boat tours, and an underwater restaurant. Enjoy a unique dining experience at the underwater restaurant, where you can watch fish swimming in the blue waters while enjoying your meal—an unforgettable experience!

 Installment Payment Information

For those who cannot pay the full amount at once, a deposit of 500,000 won is required, with the remaining balance to be paid within 2 weeks. After receiving the deposit, we will proceed with the process to confirm your participation and availability based on the date of deposit. Early booking is important to secure your desired date and period! (No refunds once confirmed)

*However, if the start date is approaching, the schedule for the remaining payment may vary depending on the circumstances.

 

 Early Bird Discount and Urgent Application Information

For all Gap Year projects, we recommend applying at least 3 months before the project start date due to the normal procedures and preparation time. Applications should be made at least 2 months before the start date. However, if you need to apply urgently, you can use the urgent application service by paying an additional fee to expedite the process.

*We strive to assist with the expedited process, but please note that time is needed for communication with local agencies and confirmation of participation. Participants using the urgent application service should actively cooperate with the Korea Gap Year operations team as the procedures are the same as for regular applicants.

** Those who apply 180 days or more before the start date will receive an early bird discount.
