PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

PROJECT INTRODUCTION

Experience a unique volunteer travel opportunity in beautiful Portugal, a beloved destination for nobility and Europeans. You will stay and dine in Portugal while spending about three hours a day working with international volunteers to provide free meals to low-income families, elderly people, and the homeless in Lisbon using food that would otherwise go to waste. This is a special volunteer project in Portugal.

The local orientation includes a city tour with foreign friends, Portuguese language classes, and cultural lessons. Make the most of your vacation by combining travel, volunteering, global friendship, and personal development in a short time!

1. Portugal, a must-visit destination that the whole world is watching! Enjoy everything from the city to the resorts!

Portugal, known for its stunning beaches and rich history, was selected by Lonely Planet as one of the 'must-visit destinations' for travelers in 2017. It’s a place where you can feel as if you’ve traveled back to the Middle Ages, with beautiful landscapes and preserved culture despite foreign invasions. This project involves 3-4 hours of volunteer work daily in Lisbon, with the added benefit of easily exploring the city and surrounding areas, combining travel and relaxation.

2. Affordable cost of living, plenty of free time, and various activities provided by the organization!

Portugal is also known for being one of the most affordable places in Europe. The food is cheap and delicious, the climate is mild, and every step reveals beautiful scenery. Compared to other European countries, Portugal is safe with excellent public safety, making it a 'hidden gem.' Take your time exploring Portugal by tram or relaxing all day on the beach! The local organization also offers various activities, such as Portuguese tours, surfing, and language classes, for free or at minimal cost, to enrich your experience.

*Day and half-day tours in Portugal are generally offered once a week, and you can check the specific schedule upon arrival at the local organization.

3. No other requirements! As long as you're physically fit, anyone can participate!

Since this project involves collecting food waste in Lisbon and providing free meals, there’s no need for language skills in English or Portuguese, nor any special technical knowledge. It’s an easy activity that anyone can participate in regardless of age, gender, ability, or qualifications. As long as you’re physically fit, you can join activities like food collection, ingredient preparation, meal distribution, and dishwashing with no problem!

The project planning intentions developed and overseen by the planners

This project was planned with the hope that you will create your own unforgettable special memories while enjoying a healing journey, instead of just quickly traveling through Europe. Portugal may not be as well-known in our country as other Western European countries, but it is a nation full of hidden charms, from its cities to its resorts, recognized by many travel experts around the world.

The head of the volunteer organization is an American who was so captivated by Portugal's beauty during his travels that he established the volunteer center here. This place, known only to those who have visited Portugal, has a unique charm. Create your own gap year story in this special place!
