A creative time for me, gap year.
Planning is the most careful and important process for taking a gap year.
If you properly plan and spend even one year, one month, one day, or one hour, you will be so happy that you cannot express it in words.
The time that makes your gap year more valuable is planning your gap year.
Planning is as important as taking a gap year. It is very important.
But before that, think about ‘what you want to gain’ through the gap year. Please think about it.
Planning and clearly defining what you want to gain and for and taking a gap year is a very important process that maximizes the effect of the gap year and makes your time more valuable.
Before taking a gap year
– Goal: Decide what you want to gain through the gap year and what special things or abilities you want to gain. – Duration: Check the period and date that I can take a gap year, ‘how long’ I will take the gap year and ‘when’ I will leave.
– Decision: Where do you want to take the gap year, domestically or abroad?
You need to decide based on the period and goal whether you will travel, work, volunteer, or do all of these.
You can make these decisions yourself or with a gap year consultant.
Gap year consulting
You also need to decide in advance whether you will travel alone or with others.
There are many things to decide. However, if you decide and think about it now,
the value of your gap year will go up!
– Funding: Think about how much money you can spend and how much you need to save to take a gap year.
– Research: Research the countries you plan to visit during your gap year.
It is a good idea to find out in advance about the visas and vaccines that each country requires. – Language: Decide whether you will study the language in advance before going on a gap year in the country you have chosen.
– Return date: Decide when you will return according to the gap year period you have decided while on a gap year. If you are on a gap year, decide the return date in advance before the semester starts after the gap year.
– Evaluate whether you are meeting your goals: What I wanted to achieve before going on a gap year! Evaluate yourself to see how close you are to your goals and what you were able to achieve. Looking back on yourself objectively will also be a very good process for you.
– Record your experiences: Write about the experiences you have learned through your gap year. If you think about what you learned, what challenges you faced and overcame, and write them in advance, you will have great memories of things you cannot remember when you write your resume for employment or look back on your gap year. During your gap year, you can run a blog or write a diary by hand. I recommend that you do not trust your memory too much and write them yourself so that the memories of that day do not disappear into thin air!
During a gap year
If unexpected opportunities come your way during your gap year, look ahead and change your plans accordingly.
– Money management: During your trip, you need to continuously manage your finances so that you don’t have any financial problems.
When you need money urgently in an unexpected situation, or when you have more money than you thought left over,
Manage your money appropriately while you are on your gap year.
After completing your gap year,
companies look for people who set goals, achieve something, learn from mistakes, and have experience in the field they want to work in.
Gappers who are thinking about getting a job later should be able to express what they want to gain from their gap year and what experiences they were able to have through their gap year. The most important thing is to take the time to organize the process of remembering and looking back on my gap year in writing after completing it.
Qualities you can gain through a gap year
– Reliability, maturity, determination : Many gappers who have returned from a gap year say that they have experienced challenges and situations that are different from what they expected.
– Adaptability, self-reliance, independence : You can develop self-reliance by traveling independently through a gap year, and you can develop the ability to apply your skills to situations as you gain various experiences during the trip.
– Organizational skills : Whether it is finding suitable accommodations on the road, raising funds for a gap year, or in many other ways, organizational skills are very important when taking a gap year.
– Communication skills : Your communication skills can be developed by communicating with people from various regions abroad, not just on a tourist course.
– Problem-solving skills : Your problem-solving skills can be improved by booking accommodation that is not available, having your passport stolen, or solving unexpected situations when things do not go as planned.
– Teamwork skills : You can improve your teamwork skills by working with others and working towards a bigger goal.
– Global business skills : Developing international connections or understanding business models of other countries can improve your global mindset.
To successfully complete your gap year, which is a creative time for me, I recommend making a checklist and preparing in advance and recording it thoroughly. Also, try to concretize the direction of your dreams through various consulting programs!
If you record the various activities you experienced during your gap year in the form of a blog or diary,
it will be a good opportunity to look back on your gap year and create your life story.
How about leaving your memories with your gap year story and photos?
