VISA THAT CAN BE ISSUED WITH ON A SHORT-TERM VISA IN KOREA?
What is a short-term visa?
It is a visa issued if you want to stay for 90 days for market research, business contact, consultation, contract, tourism, transit, nursing care, visiting relatives, friendly economy, various events or meetings, culture and arts, general training, lectures, religious consciousness, collection of academic materials, and other similar purposes.
The principal purpose of a short-term visa :
- You can stay for up to 90 days
- Changes are being restricted to other visas.
LIST OF VISA THAT CAN BE CHANGED FROM A SHORT-TERM VISA (C-3-SERIES)
1. Extended Stay ( C-3 ) > Expenses $600
- Possible if :
○ If there is no ship to leave the country, or if there is an unexpected accident, illness, etc. that could not be predicted at the time of entry
○ If you enter the country for the purpose of visiting relatives, language training, etc., there is no suspicion of illegal employment (foreign compatriots, family of marriage immigrants, etc.)
○ As a commercial purpose, if you need to extend your stay due to reasons such as import and export shipment delay, departure delay, etc.
○ If a double visa holder has demonstrated the need to continue to stay beyond the period of stay granted after entering the country.
- For group tours ( C-3-2 ) applicable when :
○ For group tourists ( C-3-2 ) and those who have an individual certificate of guarantee ( C-3-2 ), only if there is no aircraft to depart from the country, or if there are unavoidable reasons such as application for permanent residence and naturalization, permission to extend the period or change the status of residence can be granted.
- Possible Solution :
○ It corresponds to the scope of activities on the short-term visa, and the extension within the period of 90 days from the date of entry.
2. Job Search ( D-10 ) > Expenses $1,000
- Possible if :
○ As a score-based scorer, if the basic item of 190 points is 20 or more, and the total score is 60 or higher

- Permission: The head of the foreigner's immigration office under the jurisdiction of the place of residence or the jurisdiction of the university's location

4. Corporate Investment ( D-8 ) > Expenses $3,000
- Corporate Investment ( D-8-1 )
○ The target of investment is a Korean corporation
○ The investment amount is more than 100 million won, and it owns more than 10 of 100 minutes of the total number of shares with voting rights of the invested corporation
- Venture Investment ( D-8-2 )
○ The person who founded the venture company + the representative who received the venture company confirmation or has excellent technology
- Invest in private companies ( D-8-3 )
○ A company whose investment is run by the Korean people
○ Owns more than 100 million won in investment and more than 10% of the total investment of the invested company
○ Listed as a co-representative with Koreans (the business fund of Koreans who are joint operators is more than 100 million won)
5. Other Visa ( G-1 ) > Expenses $1,600
- Possible requirements :
○ People and their families who are claiming and treating industrial accidents
○ People and their families who are being treated for illness, accident
○ A person in the process of various lawsuits
○ A person being mediated by the Labor Bureau for arrears of wages
○ Refugee applicant
○ Humanitarian residence permit among non-recommited refugees
○ Family of a person who died in an accident or other
○ Humanitarian residence permit for pregnancy, childbirth, etc.
○ Patients and their families who need long-term treatment after entering the country due to disease treatment
○ Person in need of humanitarian consideration, such as victims of sexual violence
○ The family of the person who received a humanitarian residence permit after applying for refugee
6. Work Visa ( E-7 ) > Expenses $1,600
- Possible if :
○ Foreigner requirements
⏹ College bachelor’s degree or higher (for overseas)
⏹ Holds 1 year or more of relevant experience (unrelated to master's degree or higher)
○ Korean company requirements
⏹ Up to 1 person is possible without limit on the number of Koreans (from 2 people, proceed at a 1:5 rate)
⏹ Employment contract with a monthly salary of 2.7 million won or more
⏹ Work in a professional occupation, not in the primary industry such as manufacturing
- Process :
○ Generally : After departing from abroad, a Korean company invites foreigners abroad.
○ Exception : It is possible to change from a short-term visa to a work visa, but limitedly possible.
