The most representative activity during GAP YEAR is travel.
Travel can be domestic or international.
It could be a short trip or a long trip, right?

Travel, especially overseas travel, is becoming a daily routine. In the past, package tours through travel agencies were the trend, but these days, many people with travel experience prefer backpacking, right?

However, overseas travel, especially long-term overseas travel, is a privilege only college students can enjoy. Among the foreigners we meet while traveling, we see many travelers taking vacations of more than a month, but for us Koreans, it still feels like a dream.. 🙁

Among the foreign friends I meet while traveling, I especially see many young people aged 18 and 19.
In Korea, this is when people are afraid to go backpacking abroad alone, but why are there so many 18- and 19-year-old travelers abroad?

These friends are Gappers who have GAP YEAR. These are brave friends who postponed college admission for a year after graduating from high school and went on an adventure to see the wider world! It’s amazing to see friends who are big but still have breasts on their faces, carrying large backpacks, and traveling to places like South America and Africa.

Short-term trips of just 1 or 2 weeks are meaningful, but long-term trips of 2 to 3 months or more have great appeal. When traveling for a short period, it is easy to end up only taking in major cities due to limited time. However, on a long-term trip, you can stay in your favorite city for as long as you want and enjoy its culture.

You can learn about the country’s traditional food, learn the language and make friends with the local people. You can experience a trip that is a little more in-depth than a short trip.

Korea Gapyear will plan various travel programs until the GAP YEAR culture takes root in Korea.
